Cafc5-Are you sure he doesn't have his badges? He was an integral part of Sven's coaching staff, and was described by Sven as " A very good coach"
cafc5 that's rubbish, he started working on his coaching badges ages ago before he retired. Back when he was with us if I remember correctly (2005 spell).
Not even an argument 101 CAFC5 has poisoned himself so badly he doesn't want to find out. Could he be our forgotten friend coming on hear to poison the site? Powell has his B licence from around 2007 and at the dinner where he stood down as chairman of the PFA he stated that he was going to the Uni of Warwick management school summer course (2010) and also aiming to do his A licence. I think also that Damien Matthew may also have an A Licence Nice if CPs got the A licence but better credential are the references from people like Sven G E
I almost reprimanded him for spouting his bile. Ah so third spell with us then, well glad someone has got the facts
By forgotten friend yes I used to be on 606 but I was called super parky. Glad to see must of the old gang on here. As I've been away for ages( only just heard about this) what happened to that vol character.
Vol suffered a massive coronary due to his high blood pressure. Well I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.
I agree that any other manager would probably have been savagely abused and given the boot, but the fact of the matter is we ain't a premier club anymore, not even close. We have to stop pretending we are and man up, we're league one. We have to find stability and start again. Chrissy has all the qualitys needed to be a good manager except experience, but I don't doubt he'll get there. He loves this club as much as we do, and isn't going anywhere for the forseeble future, so we have to support him and whatever players he manages to brings in. It's lack of support that got us into this mess in the first place.
We need to give the manager, and playing staff time to gel. I'm not even talking about 1 season... I would like to see 2 year contracts with the club having the option for a third year being handed out. Lets these players know that they can't come and collect a wage for a year or 18months- hopefully resulting in a bit of added passion to the cause. Problem with all the loans and 1 year deals is that they perhaps don't feel associated to the club, as say a JJ does due to him having a 2 year deal.
yep I agree SuperChrissy i've said it in several threads here and on 606 it's time to start handing out proper contracts to key players again, if they don't think they're going to be here next season then of course by February, March etc they'll not give a damn anymore. get the likes of Semedo, Racon, Jackson, BWP all on at least 2 year contracts even 3 years in some cases, the club will still exist then so why not tie them down and remove the uncertainty and make them feel a bit more associated with the club, then us the fans, wouldn't be getting on there backs so much for not trying.
Problem is though, if we start handing out a long term contract to everyone, if they turn up as rubbish or get badly injured..well, that's a lot of money that's going to be wasted *Points at Pardew's signings*
Ryan yes I see your point which is why I said hand out proper contracts to key players not everyone. Last summer there was uproar when Semedo was being linked with transfers for around ã850k. Now he's available for a free. Surely it would just make sense to tie down valuable players instead of letting there contracts run, even 2 year deals would give both club and player a bit more security when it comes to selling players. If Bailey had only been given a 2 year contract he'd have walked away to Boro on a free instead of the ã1.5m we got due to him still being contracted to us.
I was talking more about the poster above, than what you said. But even still, when signing new players, a lot of the time you expect them to be "key players" but it can go horribly wrong for a variety of reasons. Fact is, lower league clubs cannot afford long term contracts.
I was in the group of four, as I envisaged a two year progression to promotion - this season was supposed to be the 'consolidation' season!
