Nope, he's off. Largely because he's always been about to come good but never quite managed it.

However, if you twist statistics about Tadic enough by ignoring games where he played well and by subtracting the odd goal here and there, Gaston's better than Tadic.

I liken Gaston to a Quarterback, he needs time to play and time is something that you get very little of in English football. He gets caught in possession far too often which puts the whole team on the back foot. He is a luxury player in my opinion.

Reading the original post and some of the comments has reminded me why I don't post very often anymore!

I laugh everytime I read a comment from a deluded Man Utd or Liverpool fan about how bad they have it but some of our fans have been drinking the same water!

We have had a bloody good couple of seasons since we came back to the premier league and some fans are beginning to act like we have a divine right to be closer to the top 6.

This is probably the best season for unpredictability ever in the premier league, and we said that last season as well. Anyone( except poor Villa) can beat anyone and as a result you can beat Chelsea and draw with Liverpool and struggle against Palace and Stoke( and poor Villa).

In the last 10 games we have gained 12 points. Man Utd 13, Liverpool 13, West Ham 12, Everton 11 and Chelsea 10. We are not alone in struggling and ok ours might be in the last few games but all teams have blips.

Now is not the time to question Koeman, he is the best manager we have ever had in my opinion, Poch was a great tactition but Koeman is a huge name and can help little old Southampton sign players that wouldn't normally consider us. I believe he is the right man for the job and as Fran has already suggested I would offer him an extended deal.

We will come through this and finish around mid table and I'm more than happy with this, not every season is going to be an improvement on the last. This was easier in the lower leagues but when you finish 7th in the country, it will always be hard to at least match that.

I am a loyal and optimistic saints fan and always feel we can get something from a game and as such I think we will get something from Arsenal, May only be a point but it will kick start a good run for us!

You can't come in here posting with your sensible, calm, logical posts when you fancy it! :)

    (Although stats are good)

I don't think we have a God given right to win and I don't think midtable would be a disaster, but I would like to see us play well and score goals. We've been a pleasure to watch over the past few years...I'm unhappy that we don't seem to play like Saints anymore.

The home game before last we could have been 5 up at half time Fran. It was so close to be what you/we all want.

By the way I posted when I wasn't ready, stupid phone! If you have already read my post, re-read it for the directors cut with added content!

Meh! It was just more sensible stuff! Did you not leave any dramatic toy throwing or demands on the directors cutting room floor?

Wish I had seen that, but we need to put chances away. Goals seem to be our biggest problem. I'd accept losses more if we were losing 3-2, 2-1 etc, but without goals. where is the hope?

    Oh yeah I did.....

Ramirez is statistically better than Lallana on a Tuesday night match while playing away under a full moon refereed by a guy called Derek.

And also if only The Koeman Bros would manage us as their alter egos the Koeman Sisters, we would distract the opposition enough to win every game.

Seriously though kids, just say no to drugs! RIP Zammo!

We're Saints fans Fran. There's ways hope and there's always no hope.

I think the problem is everyone is playing the same as us and now we need to tweak it as it was working when nobody could handle our flies round **** approach. Now its ten a penny, it makes it harder for us and our players are not as good as they were, no Clyne and Morgan and so far lesser players, makes it harder. Forster being out also doesn't help.

He's probably had more written about him on this site than any other player in the club's history.

I thought I would have been the last to give up on him, but apparently not. A handful of goals, 2 or 3 nice touches, some passes into space that no one else read, and he's a club legend.

To be honest, there's a big part of me that likes the idea of bringing Ramirez off the bench to see if he can influence a game when we're not playing well and losing.

There's an even bigger part of me that wishes Tintin would, instead of blocking out a very offensive comment that bugged quite a few people with a load of asterix, come out and say "sorry, that was an ill advised thing to say".

I think there's likely more chance of Gaston coming good though, and if that gets me 'ignored' it's a shame, because there's sense amongst the aggressive bluster. But anyone posting that kind of thing, well, I won't miss their version of reason.

TBF, it is really only a few people stumping for Ramirez. And not sure whether it is really that Ramirez is such quality or if it is grasping at straws.

If Koeman opts to use Ramirez that is fine with me. I can see the logic and what he could conceivably bring to the table. But at this point, I would rather see Juanmi get more playing time.

I spent weeks telling him he made good points and he just needed to be less aggressive and more 'open' in his debating when someone countered his view. I just got called names and a clown. Ok I became a dog with a bone, but that was only because I do find a lot of his stuff of interest and value (not the stats obsession though) and wanted him to reason in his debates, not slam doors.

It's not like he's a Barry Sanchez type, who just wasn't worth listening to at all.

There's the thing right there. We all
Just want the loss of form to go away Now if we had 6 points from these 18, then he wouldn't even be in a debate.

And that's from one of his biggest fans.

Why is there no "double-like" button on here? After all the stats presented and discussed, I wish folk would google "regression to the mean " as this might help some to calm down a bit. Say, just say, that we finished in 12th this season. After back to back promotions, player unheavals and manager changes, and without just throwing money around, I wouldn't consider that a disaster. No side, not even Man U can expect to improve every season, year on year. Our plan to use more Academy players has been delayed by quicker than expected progress up the leagues. I can live with that. It doesn't mean that plan has been dropped.
Patience. Learn some patience. Right now!

Channon, some of us having being saying for a long time that finishing mid or low table is not a disaster. There are hardly any graph lines that keep a continual progress upwards year on year, in any walks of life. Some of us also said the **** would start to hit the fan the moment it looked like we wouldn't beat the previous season....
