Word in the game was Reid was taking backhanders on the players he was buying, which is why clubs wouldn't touch him after he was booted from SAFC, despite the success he had here.
I'm more interested in palmo-gate at the minute? For the record ftr, reidy is a legend for us and ya divvent know what ya talkin about?
Very confident I have to say. We have some good players and a good manager. A centre half and a striker wouldn't go amiss and personally I'd have signed a left back instead of Debuchy, but I don't think we'll go down even if we go with what we have now. Anything is possible but I'm not overly concerned. I fancy us to finish mid table being honest. I understand your concerns about Reid but I don't think the magic had gone. If he'd been backed in the summer instead of once in trouble I think he'd still be there now to be honest. I thought you played some great stuff under him but unfortunately had a short sighted chairman. Say Short had been the man behind Reid, I think you'd have a very different Sunderland today. By your own admission he had a bad 18 months after an excellent spell. SAF had two shocking seasons after one good and he'd had a fortune to spend! (finished 11th and 13th after finishing 2nd and was 17th at Xmas in one of them) Moyes finished 17th in his third season. How would Reid have done with another 5 years? Who knows but I think he had earned a little more credit. Similar to Bobby with us.
Not really but why let that get in the way of a good story................simply discussing Sunderland on the Sunderland board
Warm pouch you are a moron Reid had one bad season. So what was the season he got relegated then? A romping triumph? You were completely wrong to suggest we got rid of Reid at the first sign of trouble and no amount of silly posturing will make you right. We were pretty poor when we got relegated and in the play off season we were terrible for the first third of the season. The plug could easily have been pulled on Reid. Newcastle and bobby Robson, now that is much more of a knee jerk reaction. Don't care what you say loads of Newcastle fans at the time wanted him out, where did that get you? Now all the mags claim the were fully behind him lying ****s!
Tony, didn't you know that Robson was never hounded out according to the new rewritten history of nufc? Luckily we all don't need history books to remember the way the airwaves and local newspapers reflected there was a huge ground swell of opinion that he had lost the dressing room and was too old to manager in the modern game. They just would prefer if we didn't keep reminding them of the facts.
As stated earlier its all relative with Reids first relegation, that's as good as that team was. He got them out of the 1st division but they weren't good for the PL. What was he to do exactly? Which brilliant players were lining up to sign for Sunderland? Which pot of gold that Murray afforded him did he not use? He learnt from it, the board did a little and bounced back big time to give you the two best finishes you have had in recent history. You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. No amount of posturing is going to make you right though. Bobby was also a knee jerk reaction by Shepherd. A clown can only do what he knows though. The vast majority of our support were fully behind him as was evidenced in the one game when he was booed by the small minded minority. Funnily enough I'm not really that interested in your fairytales either. As for the insults, grow up a little bit
I think you need to go away and research how many times Reid was actually relegated with us plum duff.
Just the once wasn't it? And bounced back in fine style. I think you need to go away and research having a bit of patience and giving a manager time Insults.............ah the mackem board way, here we go
If i wasnt so tired i'd stay up and fight for a bit, but i'm gonna climb in my cot! Good night peeps F#ck off pouch!
This sums it up for me. You respond to a thread on the Sunderland board about your own team, your response is even made more relevant by including a reference to Sunderlands own history, yet three posters resort to insults and one is actively looking for a "fight".
Lets see how patient your lot are with Pardew then eh? 9 defeats in 12 games. Oh dear. Manager of the year 6 months ago and all your lot ****ing profusely about him in the summer. Lets see how long before cockney mafia 'bouycott' signs are flying high again.
As I've already stated before all your board members childs play, I'm quite happy to give him the full eight years. Its about time we had some stability. As you correctly note he has already shown ability in winning manager of the year, I'm quite happy to give him time. I wouldn't sack if we went down. I want to give a manager genuine time. Not one or two seasons in the modern blueprint but genuine time. 5 seasons minimum for me. Obviously a bad run can't just go on for 2 or 3 three seasons but the odd bad season for a manager can be the making of them. As for the signs, every club has its morons, just the way it is You should know having had your fair share of MON detractors in recent times after a short spell in charge
