i can see NA here till the end of the season at least, unless we get seriously mauled on several occasions i cant see the board sacking him because it would almost certainly see heads roll around the boardroom table, admission of a major c*ck up of his appointment as manager.
I think you're right. How can a team that performed so well against Huddersfield, then go and play abysmally in the next 2 games????
Adams is quoted (albeit on an AngliaTV report) as saying "We're extremely disappointed". Well so you f**ing well should be. From what I can gather, a spineless performance against a lower league side - culminating in nil, zilch, diddly squat attempts on target . And if you are "disappointed" what the hell do the 1,000 traveling fans think about it? The two big wins vs 'Udders and Millwall have simply papered over the cracks - our season is in disarray. Over half way through and he STILL can't / won't decide on / stick to a regular defensive four, or give a striking pair a sustained run in the side which would enable them to better develop an understanding and do what they're paid decent money for. McNally and cronies, having scoured the solar system, are far too gutless to act until after it's way too late, and so our spiral into oblivion can only continue to gather momentum under this current " let's pull 11 names out of a hat and hope it works - this week" mentality. To quote the good general.....BAH!
Even if he had the ability to turn this round, I can't see how he realistically could, things have gone too far, and for me his sacking is just a matter of time. Has been for a while. How long the board drag this out though, is anyone's guess. Act now and you get a crack at the playoffs and even if it doesn't work, a fresh start next season. Leave it another 2-3 months and playoffs will be gone and this campaign could bring down the next. Phelan isn't even close to the answer. We need someone completely fresh, someone we can all get behind rather than the divisive appointments we've seen since lambert. I think I'd be more understanding if he were bringing through some youngsters, in all this, but even that hasn't materialised.
That really sums it up for me and I can see another 'Hughton' debacle looming in the next few weeks/months. As you say Cromer it seems to be a case of 'any 11' will do, yet when we had a reasonably settled side against Millwall/Derby/Huddersfield, I thought we were beginning to look like a team, but of course we had Cuellar at the heart of the defence then!!!!
We're currently well off our league objective and have been knocked out of both cups to lower league opposition. Adams did well to hold onto some important players in the summer, but those that he's brought in either haven't played, or haven't been very good. £4m for Lafferty, £1.5 for Miquel etc...We're constantly tinkering with tactics and the starting 11. This seasons becoming a write off. Even if we get into the playoffs, would anyone expect us to beat Boro or Derby or Watford over two legs based on the evidence of the season and how we've played so far? I would want Adams to stay around the club, but it's about getting the most out of what's available to you. Look at Mick McCarthy, he's a master at it. I maintain we have a better squad than Ipswich, but that counts for nothing as our friends from the south constantly remind us.
'Ain't that the truth???? Imagine what MM could achieve with the likes of our squad?? At least they play as a team and had a good result against Saints today.
C'mon now folks, I don't believe in Adams either, but MM day in the sun will soon come to an end. The only way he would succeed with us would be to sell or exchange our players for bigger lumps. MM is an experienced campaigner at this level but just above average at champ level and hopelessly out of his depth in the prem. A bit like hootun, an organiser with little hope of elevating his sides above functional (don't get me wrong, functional would represent progress to where Adams has us). But MM has had something click, soon may it end! Bah!
I'm still on the fence on this one, as the four games before Reading gave reasonable cause for hope. The last two games have been more than disappointing, but don't eliminate that hope for me. I also think that you have to look at the other teams who have been relegated recently - Fulham and Cardiff are both struggling, QPR scraped into the play-offs last year, but Reading and Wigan are also struggling, as are Blackburn and Bolton. People thought this year would be a dawdle. It isn't, and it never was going to be. I still think Bournemouth will provide a key, followed by Cardiff and Brentford, and if the players don't respond with all out performances and a results, then we are likely to struggle. Changing the manager won't necessarily produce an improvement in the play. Just look at Fulham and Cardiff, both of whom have changed their manager.
I am surprised by the recent losses and performances as the improvements generally since the arrival of MP had been encouraging. I do not know what benefits would come from sacking NA at this time because surely MP would be the natural successor and he is already there. And Chippy.................NO!
