In my opionion Crystal Palace at home could well be Hughton's last game in charge. Realistically we're probably going to take another hefty beating on Saturday against Citeh, notwithstanding the fact that Wet Sham have become somewhat of a 'bogey' side for us, a draw at best here I think if we're lucky and Newcastle away ? Well lose that and the pressure will really be on. I'm still saying CH will survive until Christmas but with our inability to put the ball in the back of the net, his position come December 1st may well be untenable. Chris Hughton is a 'nice' guy too nice TBH and I really can't see him turning it around now. A change now before it's too late is required, I can't believe that DM doesn't have contingency plans in place should things go 'tits up' as is now likely. Before CH was appointed it was rumoured that DM had a foreign man lined up to take charge, is he still available I wonder? Indeed, who was it ? I'm sure he must have a list of potential successors, he has to.

I think your probably right, if we are still on a losing streak. CH could still get us back to the same form as last season though, but the injuries to Snodgrass and Redmond certainly won't help.

Correct!

I said this a little over a week ago, if we fail to win any of our home games from Cardiff, West Ham & Palace, and assuming we lose at Man City (almost certainly) and Newcastle (good chance) - then yes, he'll probably be shown the door.

If that certain, I am not totally sure how I feel about it to be honest.
 
kickitoff, i understand the foreign manager looked at before when hughton was appointed was ralf rangnick (who hasn't managed since due to illness). there was another but i don't know who that was - it may have been laudrup.

i certainly wouldn't be too keen on him now. if we are to give hughton the heave-ho, and i still very much hope we don't need to, and we are to go down the foreign line, there is only one man for me (and trust me, i've thought about it a lot because nobody else has been able to come up with a realistic name) - thomas tuchel from mainz. whether we could get him is up for debate. its a risky route to go down though.

edit. the other name might have been di matteo now i think about it <ok>
 
Problem is we could well be in a worse situation than if he stayed, for someone taking over December time getting us back to winning ways would be a big ask. I still have faith in CH though, I think he will turn it around, our first run of games have been against some decent sides, when we play the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Palace I'm sure we will pick up some points.
 
i think that's a fair junction kio, after those games. if we don't beat one of WHU or palace then the pressure will really pile up
the media seem to think he is under a lot of pressure now, and is joint favourite for the next sacking with Jol at the moment, but i'm not sure he is under that much pressure, it's still a minority of fans want him out.
 
i do agree. i think the palace game is very key now, although to be fair, it was always going to be a big game for us, even if we had a few more points on the board as its a great chance, probably the best all season, of three points

i agree, but aren't we always likely to be in 'fear' of relegation? this has been a worry of mine since the summer - some people looked at the money spent and thought it would propel us away from the danger zone and into the top half. it could have done, it still might, but all we were doing was trying to keep pace with all around us who were also splashing large sums of money. cardiff spent about £10m more than us! on saturday, there was little doubt who has the better side (although we had a better side to build on to be fair). for as long as we are a part of the premier league, the stark reality is that we will probably always be involved to some extent in the relegation battle. sometimes we will stay out of it more than other seasons but we'll always be looking over our shoulder. i think expectations were too high this season.

Not helped by the chairman Bowkett saying how he was budgeting for a top half / top ten finish . The keyboard warriors and facebookers have clearly taken that statement to heart and are using it as a stick to beat Hughton with, as Munky alluded to yesterday.
