they have a proper city centre shop it's in Princes Quay. You are obviously one of the people who don't make it past St Stephens
That is simply not good enough in the build up to the FA Cup Final, footfall in Princes Quay is going down, we manage to open the shed opposite West Stand on match days so we should have a pop up store or stores around the city centre and we should be allowing shirt sales in sports shops throughout Yorkshire.
There's several big empty units down King Edward St, the club could probably have a temporary let for bugger all and run a complete range of FA Cup merchandise in there. We're currently buying crap blank tees/polo's from wholesalers and sticking embroidery/print logos on the front. We should keep stock of our own properly branded tees and polo's(we only run four colours in tees and a few in polo's) and print them up as we need them. Be that FA Cup stuff now, or 'City 3 - 1 Liverpool' tees earlier in the season. It's not rocket science.
I've mentioned on here before too - during the summer months, the club should have pop-up stores in Brid and Scarborough - capitalise on being the best club in Yorkshire. Get all the Wessie kids on their holidays to the seaside asking their Leeds supporting dad for a Hull City shirt
I'll be getting my Wembley keyring tomorrow. The forecast means I may well be donning my HCFC raincape too.
And that's the problem. The club shop would be ideal in the empty premises opposite St Stephens on the corner of Bond Street and Ferensway. You cannot fail to miss it there. Hull FC have their stuff plastered all over the front of St Stephens yet their tiny little shop is tucked away down Saville Street.
The thing with all of this is that you don't even need imagination to turn a profit on this. Simply google all the other big clubs in the world and adapt to fit. Reasonably confident I could double the turnover on club merchandise. Hazard a guess many people could too.
They've become complacent with all the TV money. Also the range has got worse lately with Adidas churning out the same old ****e. Hopefully the swap to Umbro will make things better
I have a huge selection of "Tiger" T Shirts and Tops. I always wear one when I visit one of our many Chinese/Malaysian Restaurants as the owners and staff go ape. Apparently it is a symbol of Power, Strength and Good Fortune. This is a 'mock-up' (I have the shirt but no lettering on it) which is their favourite:
