Hmm, every other team have had the Euro's and even the Olympics to contend with, some of which have also had recent changes of managers.

This whole "judge them at the end of the window" should be a nonsense.

Anyone who is rushing about at the end of August is un-organised and panicking. Just because the window is shut during the previous season doesn't mean you can't be lining deals up, finding out if your targets are available etc.

We keep hearing from managers that they have meetings with their Directors etc when they return from pre-season, this should be done the day after the season, give the board 2 months to get them in and be ready for pre-season. For example, if we sign M'Vila in the next week or two (I'll refrain from saying imminently...) when is he going to be up to match fitness? He's trained on his own and isn't even been involved in a friendly, it'll be 6 weeks and probably 8-9 games into the season before he's up to scratch, hence why we can't afford to just sit and wait for his contract to expire and get him on a free in December, it's too late!!

I know we've lost Allardyce but there's still no excuse for the lack of progress with signings, from Allardyce's targets or from Moyes and his choices.

Serious heads need to roll for the lack of pro-active action this summer.

Prepare to plan, prepare to fail.
Couldn't disagree more.

We don't work under a director of football ethos, so when we lose a manager then everything gets ripped up, and we go again with our new managers targets. David Moyes hasn't even been in control of our club for three weeks yet.

I don't like this hammering our clubs taking at the moment, I think it's really unfair. There's 3 weeks left of the transfer window, at least give the club some slack for what we have been through, we didn't plan on the FA ****ing off with our manager with the new season approaching.

Not at all. It's not that simple, buying clubs and agents all drag deals out as long as possible in order to raise the fees, some are very good at this. You haven't mentioned selling clubs or agents. The parties who actually control the deals

Transfer aren't as simple as you make out. As always it's a sellers market. That makes it tough for buying teams, especially when you have to replace your manager a week into the window. You haven't mentioned the time Moyes needs to asses his squad, it's not done over night. How can he identify targets when he doesn't know what he needs?

How come when we sell it's done in a few days but when we go to buy it drags on for months?
I mean all this fannying about over a poxy £5m with the Russians.
It's just so frustrating. <steam>

Just can't understand how we manage to get nearly every transfer window totally wrong.
The common denominator has to be Short so yes Bri I am coming round to your way of thinking, I've defended him and the club in the past but this is becoming indefensible.
This window has been different thanks to the FA.
BSA had a plan and his signings would have been made quickly.
But Short was deflected, Moyes was appointed asap once FA had got BSA. Then Moyes needed to assess (he had time before comming here but does'nt seem to have done much new job research & preparation).
Short was stymied for a while and the situation has been chaotic - seems Short has often got into grey areas while here - is it Short or Sunderland or both - it's been like this all my life supporting Sunderland - get to a promising position ... <cracker> implode <doh>

All we know is what we're told and when we're told it. Name one of our players who's moved on from bid to holding up a shirt in a few days? Deadline day aside. Then please, tell me where you accessed that information cause it's one hell of a source. Read any manager interview on transfers and what goes on that isn't reported.

I mean when you think about it. Our sales take way longer because generally we can't shift the players. Bridcutt is a prime example. Been going on since the window opened. Still our player.

Well Bent & Gyan for a start.

Bod. Khazri. Lens were all either rapid signings or out of the blue. I dont believe all our signings take an age.

M.Vila yes
Borini. eternity.
Insomnia. about 10 years and never happened.

Its a mixed bag.

Background manoeuvres will have been going on and if Moyes is as organised as we are told I would have expected him to do some research.
He does'nt seem to have -at the end of the day I m so frustrated with the situation and I can see us being flooded with loans again Brucie style.
Basically - put me at 8 -well miffed but not too suprised

Ok then. Lets take one of those players. So what date did we table the bid for Khazri then? Did we inquire first informally or did we just table a bid? How many bids were rejected first? What date was the bid accepted? What date did we offer him a contract? Did he accept the first contract offer? How many contract offers did we make and across how many days? What date did he agree terms? Did we have to agree agent fee or was it included in the player contract, how long did we neogciate the agent fee for? What date did he sign the contract? Did he agree terms first or did he have his medical first? Were they on the same day or did he negotiate terms from another country? How many days was it from our Khazri inquiry to him being unveiled?

I just used one of the players to pose the questions none of us know, including the press. Just making a general point that guessing a time frame is a total punt in the dark.

Like I said before, we need to wait until the window is closed to see what our situation is. As has been pointed out previously, we have zero idea where we are with any deals because we don't work at the club and are therefore not privy to the process. I'm just as anxious as everyone else to see some quality signings come thru the door. But we have to realize that this is a process which unfortunately can be dragged out by the selling club. Could be they want more money or that they want to make sure they have a replacement lined up. It would be very naive of people to believe that Moyes didn't have an idea of the market before he came on board. I also think that because of the influx of money the premier League clubs now have means some clubs will be trying to hold buying teams to ransom. That's just the nature of the beast.

Frankly I'm disappointed at the amount of flak being thrown at the club right now. We need to believe and get behind them. Once the window is closed we will be stuck with what we have until January anyway. We will then need to cheer them on either way.

A lot of irate people it seems. But which one thing is pissing you off most?

Kone bollocks.
M.Vila fiasco
Moyes
Ellis ****ing Short

Spot On .. :emoticon-0148-yes:

The thing bugging me is an expectation our 'existing' spine would be signed off prior to kick-off on Saturday i.e. Kone and MVila sorted.
A right back and CH cover/competition was next on my list before kick-off - so happy this has been signed off (once Love & McNair are in situ)
Then it's another AM, and another striker - by the end of the window

At present we're not progressing, we're treading water

I'll reserve judgement on Short til the window has closed
Moyes gets a year, before we really see what he can do. If his hands are tied (& Baine's for that matter), it's back on Short.

The complete lack of comms/positive PR from the club is painful, but we just have to expect this will not change while dealings are ongoing.
