Tash - you should definitely lower your sights and take anything. An employer will like your CV if you can show you're willing to turn your hand to anything. One thing they don't like is big gaps in employment history.

    You'll get there! <ok>

Easiest places to find work, in my experience, are call centres. Had a few jobs offers for them this year (after nearly a year of no luck at all) but, typically, they all came too late to be of any use to me (due to moving for uni).

I have to say, that was a brilliant read. Tash you never fail to deliver. You should take up stand up comedy and reel off the stuff you write on here. You would be rich in no time

They phoned you up and explained why they didn't give you the job? <laugh> ...total ****ing bullshit.

You're lucky if you get any sort of response at all from an employer these days. Never mind a personal call explaining the reasons!.

In my experience, employers NEVER offer information of that nature - you have to forcefully request information like that and it's usually given via letter, quite vague but NEVER offered.

    I smell bullshit. <ok>

Unless they thought it was such an utterly pointless thing to put on a job application that they decided to do him a favour.

Tash, didn't you get a grown up to look at your application before you sent it? Your mum or your carer? Whoever it is that supervises you crossing the road without hurting yourself?

I've been telling him this for ages, but he's never taken my advice. Especially when he was applying for jobs he was basically unqualified for too.

JUST TAKE ANYTHING TASH! Even if its collecting money for charity.

  17. I'm sure I said in one of my comments above that I'm going to start looking for jobs in other areas, just because I didn't reply to you with "That's great advice mate, thanks, have a cookie", doesn't mean I didn't read what you said.

I've applied for jobs at Asda, Morrisons and I'm calling up loads of stores and different places to ask if they have vacancies. I didn't need you to tell me what I just did mate.
I'm not stupid, I know what I'm doing. Just because I haven't been keeping an up to date not606 record of what jobs I've been applying for doesn't mean you should just assume I'm only applying for high quality jobs, and that I'm too proud to accept making sacrifices...

And to Biggeordiedave, about the gap in employment history - I was talking to that lass at the job center, and I used those exact words mate. The main reason I'm eager to get a job more than ever is because I get asked in a lot of interviews what I've been doing for the last 6-7 months, and all i can say is I've been looking for jobs.

    Just accept basic wage Tash!

    #119
  20. You're just trying to wind me up now...

I never said I wouldn't accept basic pay. I save money well so I don't need that much. Despite being out of a job for a while I have around 7-8k in savings. <ok>

I'm sensible, regardless of what you think of me.
