I've just noticed that our recent rise in form has directly coincided with Dave Winfield coming back from injury. The defence did enough both games to keep clean sheets but they just got unlucky and we're looking a lot tighter than before. I've noticed Basey has got a lot of credit, but Dave's part of it as well.
big dave is a vital defender, the reason batsy is getting all the acclaim is because we all knew what dave could do, he is not doing anything out of his ordinary game, just after tunnicliffes been playing **** it makes dave seem ever better!
big dave is our new terry evans ,a no nonsense defender who gets stuck in and we missed him badly when he was injured.we all knew sandell was a weak link in defence and waddock has sorted that out by replacing him with basey who has been very impressive so far.
