Tha thats a huge if too, if it was another day but wasn't. The fortunate thing with football is that it balances out and as has been said to death, we've had some many games where the opposite was the case. Fortunately what April has shown doubters is that when we've maintained all along we're not the worst team in the leage and got laughed down, we had a point. For the records if the season finished now with us where we are I'd be delighted and hope Sunderland occupy the third spot
Another 3 points tonight, a really spirited performance and showed we've got what it takes to stay up. If you beat Chelsea tomorrow it'll be a massive ask for the bottom 3 to catch us both. I think we just need to beat Burnley to survive, anything against Arsenal on Monday week is a bonus.
You may only need a draw against Burnley. I don't know anymore. I thought 35 points would be enough, but now I'm not so sure. Can't see Villa going down. Sunderland REALLY need to beat us or they're in trouble. Newcastle are probably hoping they have enough points already. We could lose to Sunderland but still get 37 points by beating Newcastle and QPR at home (very doable) while they have tricky games against Arsenal and Chelsea. But then it's no good looking at the table to predict results as it's more about desire than ability at this stage in the season. I've given up trying to work out what's needed and just try to take each game as it comes.
Really worried after Hull's result. I felt we had two opportunity a to finish above Sunderland or Hull (assuming Villa and Newcastle have done enough) but with Hull pulling away our best chance is keeping ahead of Sunderland and we know what they do at this time of the season... Minimum 4 point needed from the 3 homes games, avoid defeat at Sunderland is key, even a draw would be handy esspecially if we're at couple of points ahead going into the game
... I'm not ruling out us getting something tonight ... indeed I rather think we need to because I would be worried about our momentum faltering if we don't ... tonight is about standing up and being counted ... Chelsea are by no means world beaters ... good by our domestic standards yes ... but Man United completely outplayed them the other week and Arsenal were o top for most of the game at the weekend ... certainly we can't afford any 'Konchesky' moments like the one on Saturday ... if we can keep tight and composed we do have players that could give them a very uncomfortable evening ... in the famous words of Delia ... "make sure the oil is really hot" ... oops wrong quote
Hmm, yes, but even though Man U were all over Chelsea, they still lost and Arsenal couldn't win. If Man U and Arsenal can't score against them, what chance do we have?
We managed to put two past them at home (although one was wrapped very nicely by Courtois), you're more likely to score from open play than we are so I wouldn't worry too much. Chelsea need to beat you to secure the title, so they're going to be well up for it. Provided Nige doesn't set up for a point, you'll be alright I reckon.
It's a difficult task, Chelsea have kept a lot of clean sheets & I don't disagree but whilst Man U & Arsenal didn't score against them Hull & Burnley did. So by that token no reason we can't. Reiterating Gangstas point, anything can & does happen at this stage of the season. I certainly didn't see Hull beating Liverpool last night. Liverpool need to sort themselves out for Saturday!
That's why I don't bet. Seriously though, they were very fortune against Palace (handled the ball and got a couple of ricochets in the set-up for their first, Palace had a goal wrongly ruled out and finally caught Palace on the break at the end) and Liverpool should be ashamed of themselves for their performance last night. Hull over-achieved against two better sides, so fair play to them. They're probably (close to being) safe now.
Had a quick look on the QPR and hull boards. QPR very dignified but Hull fans completely pathetic and bitter, still upset over losing Pearson I guess
