    after 7 games 11 teams are separated by just 3 points from being top!

    7 games in and quite often points are 16 or better for top team
    2015/16 === Brighton 17pts in 7th on points Leeds 11pts
    2016/17=== Sheff W 18pts 7th on points in 8th 11pts [ 4th - 7th on 13 pts]
    2017/18 === Fulham 16pts 7th on points in 8th 11pts [ 5th-7th on 13 pts ]
    2018/19 === AVilla 16pts 7th on points in 8th 12pts [ 6&7 on 13 pts]
    2019/20 === Leeds 19pts 7th on points in 8th 12pts [ 5th -7th on 13 pts ]
    2020/21 === Brentford 17pts 7th on points in 9th 12pts [ 4th - 8th on 13 pts ]
    2021/22 === Huddersf 19pts 7th on 11pts CITY!
    2022/23 === Sheff U 14 pts 7th on 11pts CITY

    LAST SEASON WE BOMBED FROM THE SAME SPOT!

    This season top team after 7 is 5pts down from best teams over 8 years.
    Points gained in 7th seems to be 11-13
    TOP TEAMS AFTER 15 GAMES 1/3rd of season
    2015/16 == 2nd -5pts from top
    2016/17 == 6th -5pts
    2017/18 == top +3pts
    2018/19 ==3rd - 2pts
    2019/20 == top +8 pts
    2020/21 == 3rd - 4 pts
    2021/22 == jt top
    CITY's 7th place 14th - 15pts top team [ were 8 pts from top after 7 ] and now - 7pts below 7th.
    2018/19& 2017/18 7 teams were within 3 and 2015/16 5 teams were within 3pts

    I would say this season is one of the weakest ? as form links showing to be erratic ...

    It’s too early to be accurate - it’s around Christmas time that the league takes shape.
    The newly relegated teams from the Prem are nearly always going to be up there amongst the leaders and sure enough they are.
    Newly promoted teams from L1 are usually tipped for a return but this time (for now) they are bucking the trend.
    Then there’s us - we are ALWAYS tipped for relegation every season - but so far have avoided it. God help the bookies and pundits if we ever do get promotion to the Prem - they would need therapy and some might even end up on suicide watch.

    actually around about 7th to 15th games is when the contenders for the final top 2 are established and usually finish up in top 2 very rare any team not in top 10 gets to playoffs at this point.
    Normal season Christmas is defined with games number 24 - 46 ... you could say at easter is a good indication as to who! better than Chtristmas! [ easter moves about over 3 weeks ]
    Obviously the more games played the easier it is to say who it will be [ likely contenders ] ... remember the super computer thingy, used to update it's end of season forcast every few weeks ... a forcast after game 45 would be quite accurate.
    the object of the post is not to forcast simply indicate that compared to previous seasons it looks less like a "us and them" scenario... however it could be looked at both ways weaker [ my impression] but also stronger because results are so close together at this point! :emoticon-0138-think

    I love messing with numbers and factoids keep the brain healthy .. and the body! still doing some comparisons ....

    I guess it’s quite poor compared to the Premiership as usually at least 2 of the 3 promoted sides end up getting relegated immediately, only to then walk the Championship the following season.
    However, compared to say the Scottish Premiership and some other top flight nation leagues around Europe it would be pretty good in comparison

    The gap seems to be widening, Norwich, really good outfit in the Championship, pretty dreadful in Premiership.....I wouldn't be surprised in the future that they reduce the teams in prem for the elite..

    The money in the PL compared to the championship is eye watering.

    If they reduce the number of teams too much, they will either have to play each other twice, or there won’t be enough games per season I would have thought.

    NOW aligned to 10 games played Nige is 1 point better than his last season [ 21/22 ]] and in 3rd place after 10 games, 2 points to highlight PNE was postponed and could have given 1 pt? a win might have put him in joint top 3 of 4!

    Yes, some have either poor or selective memories, especially on the back of a win.
    Coming away from the Norwich game and just losing, having given it a good go is forgivable, but the Burnley game took a bit of a step back and will be interesting how we bounce back..
    The worrying part for me was how we allowed them so much possession, when it was obvious to most what the outcome would be.. old habits..
    Taking one of our decent threats off in Conway (unless he had a niggle) was a big mistake imo as our strength in previous games was our high pressing, as it showed v Norwich.
    Yes Burnley are a decent side but imo NP got his tactics wrong which cost us the game..

    the Bristol live item put the start into perspective "their 2 wingers" ... and it took 15-20 mins to combat our approach!! How many wingers [ wide attacking players] have we brought in , not to use them ,then give them away? [especially last 18 month's! ].The modern day game has changed since teams lined up 2-3 - 5! which transgressed to 4 -4 -2 / 3 - 4 - 3 and then 3 - 5 - 2 made an appearance amongst half a dozen other formations! What does remain though is possession if you dont have it you cant score chasing the ball becomes tiring [ often made to look like headless chickens ].
    Burnley had us by the scrotum from the first 2 or so minutes and didnt let go !!
    Has NP got it right? well considering his start on paper for 21/22 & 22/23 what has changed .. 4 defeats in 2 pairs either side of 6 points gathering games, false sense of security. I have always said who you play and where you play and when you play certain teams makes a big difference.
    AS an addition to the above Goal Difference 21/22 &22/23 was going to add it in however after 10 games 21/22 it was zero = 11 GF & 11 GA. 22/23 IT IS +3 or 19 GF & 16 GA. [ THATS 8 - 5 GD +3 COMPARISON both aspects have changed attack = good positive gain but the defence, defence coach? a very serious negative loss] !!!!
