Not as a club this season but as fans of one of the most famous names in football.

With the takeover by Bahrain based Gulf Finance House more or less complete. Are the fan base prepared to accept change if imposed by the new owners?

It's no secret that the kit colour change and badge modification wasn't exactly the most popular change brought in by our club. Some opposed it and haven't returned, some embraced the idea, and many like myself, begrudgingly accepted the trade off of kit change for investment. My club may be accused of selling it's soul for a shirt colour, but let's face up to the truth, football as I once knew it is consigned to the history books. The modern game is a business first and foremost.

When you look where we are currently many must be envious. Something has changed for the better whatever has happened.

Getting to the reason I wrote this post:

The company that has/is taking over your club may have ideas that they may put to the faithful to improve your lot. Businessmen don't usually give without taking something in return. GFH'S logo is essentially red. If they were to change your kit and club badge to mirror the company logo with a trade off for investment, would you support such a move?
 
The rumour of colour change is, if you'll pardon the pun, a red herring. GFH must be painfully aware that they have to reach out to fans after the way we've been treated by Bates. They want full houses and won't get that is they start pissing around with the club's heritage.
 
Whilst I appreciate what the topic is about and can see why a business would wish to have its colour and logo branded on their product, you also have to be careful with what that brand is and how people from all over the world see that brand. I would suggest that almost everyone who enjoys football all over the world, knows Leeds United as the team that play in all white, so to change that would be a marketing disaster and not one I would suggest many businesses would dare to touch, however the name of Elland Road or other parts of Leeds United are there for changing to whatever the business plan is, even if the actual property is not fully owned by the owners of the football club. I can't say I'd be dreadfully upset by Elland Road being dropped for GFH Capital Stadium, I've been there with Stirling Albion and nobody called Forthbank by its new name and so the sponsors pulled out a year later and the stadium is back being officially called Forthbank.
 
The fans would not accept it, and there would be more protests from those of us who are already well drilled in that regard after the **** we've suffered from Bates.

Our identity is not for compromise.

If it got to the 'Austria Salzburg' stage, then so be it. I'd rather support the institution of the Leeds community than the corporate plaything of a foreigner.

Fully understand the stadium comment fella, I often refer to our new gaff as Ninian and the newly named stand where I sit, (Ninian Stand) as The Bobbank, but new investment brings in new supporters who have no affinity with the past. Many of those empty seats around your ground will be taken up by such fans who will think nothing of a red home kit or a compromised white with red trim or red shorts.

Red, not a ducking chance in hell pal, can you imagine the uproar at ER if they changed the kit to red, I for one would not support that move it would be like say, changing Cardiff's kit from blue to red, a disaster selling the soul of your football club for chance of silverware,I would rather play in the 4th tier of the Ryman league's than support such an ill conceived idea.

It's not a case of selling the soul of your football club for silverware, it's selling it for survival. Would you watch your club die for the sake of a colour?
 
The point about Cardiff is that at least red is the colour of the national flag. And of course Cardiff has no history to speak of so nothing lost :) Changing the Leeds strip to the colour of its two most hated, historical, rivals - Liverpool and Man U, would absolutely incite even the most mild-mannered supporter. There's no way it would happen.

More than aware of the significance of the colour m8. Thought it went back further though to The War of The <rose> s. :wink:
 
A red kit? Are you having a laugh? Just think back to the first kit Macron came out with, it had some red in its logo but the kit was white. The fans let them know that the red in the logo had to go, in the next kit the red was gone<ok>
So if they did that, they would get every single Leeds fan against them<ok>
 
Breathtaking retort. I shall sulk back to my non Bluebird world in admiration of your clubs achievements these past 10 years. Your rapier wit has proven too overwhelming for me.

Come on, surely you have to be in awe of footballs newest franchise?

Leeds United as was, the perennial divison two side that bought a blip of 'success' was totally wiped out 6 years ago. Not only was the holding company liquidated, it did so after all assets, except the right to play in the football league had been transferred to a new company which unfortunately had less right to play in the league than you or I. Luckily charity stepped in and the new club were allowed to start in the hole left by the old one, albeit with a trivial slap on the wrist in the form of a token point reduction. But are they grateful?
