hate to say it, but years of thatcherism and new labour have made us selfish

'as long as I am ok' is the mantra from most people

until we help the teachers when they are on strike, or the students when they protest etc the government of the day will take the piss

I remember when the lorries shut fuel supplies, Most people went ape at them because they couldnt do x y and z.
what we should have doen is supported them and sent out a message to the government

divide and rule is being usd at home and working like a motherfucker

until we put difference aside and think in the 'whole' governments will do what they want

Can't afford to move and the lack of investment in the West of NI means there are no jobs closer to home

Great idea if travelling with kids in the car. Nothing worse than parents sitting smoking away infront of their kids

I struggle to understand the authorities logic when it comes to smoking.

With an ageing population imposing an already heavy burden on the NHS, coupled with the continuing population rise the most sensible thing would be to make smoking compulsory for all adults. Kill off as many as possible before they reach an age when they can`t look after themselves. The tax revenue from the sale of tobacco would cover the health costs so everyones a winner.

I think smoking should be banned outright! It causes only harm and has no health benefits, it costs the NHS £5bn a year in a range of smoking related illness which is money we as a nation do not have! It not only harms the individual, but it harms those around them! I constantly find myself stuck walking behind someone smoking and i end up coughing after a few breaths of the smoke! Then i get where ever i am going and i get asked have i been smoking because i end up stinking of the stuff. My Auntie also used to smoke whilst she was pregnant with her kids. Now all four have severe asthma and one was in hospital regularly when he was young as a result. They did not have the choice there, but they have to live with the consequences of the selfish actions of one person. Why should they suffer when it could be banned quite readily?? Also not just the health benefits, how much do you think it costs to pay people to pick up the *** butts when people just throw them away? Its a vile habit in my opinion and should be banned, however this wont happen anytime soon.

My parents have smoked since their early teens, both in their late 70's now and have never had a days illness between them.

Aye, right, smoking's baaaaad so it is.

Exactly. We can't afford for people to keep on living as it is, let alone ban smoking and lose all that tax revenue.
