Replace Lovren with Sakho and I would say we're stronger across the board (bar Suarez of course).

SAS was better IMO but it was driven by one man. Our team now is better balanced.

nah. sakho is a spoofer. rogers constantly tore his hair out.

next year this won't even be a discussion anyway cos klopp will have another CB i think.

I don't think Klopp will buy another CB, Matip and Lovren are his chosen pairing Klavan is cover Lucas is further cover and Gomez a young option.

Could we do better than Lovren? I think so but I don't think Klopp will see it that way.

Lucas is gone this summer. gomez i have no idea truthfully as klopp barely saw him.

Itd be remiss to not buy one more for next season.

He seems to have a good relationship with Klopp, I think he'll go if he wants to go but I don't think that Klopp would want him to.

He will certainly have options this Summer. I'd love to see him stay as cover but I imagine he would want to get out there and play.

We have been linked with a number of centre backs and Lovren is only in the team because Sakho ****ed himself.

I'll be very surprised if we don't sign a LCB to partner Matip by next summer.

It wouldn't hurt to get someone in who is quality, as much as Lovren has improved he's not perfect but it's always a risk the next guy may not work out. The combination is right Matip is a thinker and simply class, Lovren is a dog and just throws himself into challenges. He does this less now as Matip is in his ear. Matip also covers his mistakes and fills the holes he leaves.

Sakho you're a fan but he was far from perfect I don't think there's much difference in the overall quality between Sakho and Lovren both are likely to **** up at some point.

Lucas have a very good relationship with all the managers he has worked with. Rafa Benitez bought him,Rodgers also likes
him.Lucas is a gentle man, he never put the club into disrepute. I am not going to be surprised if he finishes his career with Liverpool.<applause><applause>.

I'm sure Lucas is a nice guy to work with but unfortunately he was never good enough to be a starter.

Got to have a squad Jimmy, world class players are not going to sit on the bench. Sometimes a player is there to do a job and that's enough. A player who wants to do his best for the club and is a model pro is at times as essential as the worldie.

I just think lovren has been beaten too many times at set piece time.

just my opinion cos in general play he's done a lot to improve but he's not great at set piece

Matip is an unbelievable bargain at ONLY 70k per week plus whatever signing on fee got thrown at him and his agent. In fact is bargain of the decade for us territory.

this is the wages reportedly out there

    Simon Mignolet 28 £60,000 5 Years (2021)
    Loris Karius (new signing) 23 £15,000 5 Years (2021)
    Alexander Manninger 39 £5,000 1 Year (2017)
    Mamadou Sakho 26 £75,000 4 Years (2020)
    Joel Matip (new signing) 25 £70,000 4 Years (2020)
    Dejan Lovren 27 £65,000 3 Years (2019)
    Ragnar Klavan (new signing) 30 £55,000 3 Years (2019)
    Joe Gomez 19 £10,000 4 Years (2020)
    Tiago Ilori 23 £10,000 2 Years (2018)
    Alberto Moreno 24 £40,000 3 Years (2019)
    Nathaniel Clyne 25 £70,000 4 Years (2020)
    Andre Wisdom 23 £10,000 3 Years (2019)
    Emre Can 22 £55,000 2 Years (2018)
    Lucas Leiva 29 £80,000 1 Year (2017)
    Kevin Stewart 22 ? 4 Years (2020)
    Jordan Henderson 26 £100,000 4 Years (2020)
    James Milner 30 £120,000
    Marko Grujic (new signing) 20 £15,000 4 Years (2020)
    Philippe Coutinho 24 £75,000 4 Years (2020)
    Georginio Wijnaldum (new signing) 25 £90,000 5 Years (2021)
    Adam Lallana 28 £65,000 3 Years (2019)
    Sadio Mané (new signing) 24 £90,000 5 Years (2021)
    Sheyi Ojo 19 £1,000 4 Years (2020)
    Lazar Markovic 22 £45,000 3 Years (2019)
    Roberto Firmino 24 £100,000 4 Years (2020)
    Daniel Sturridge 26 £120,000 3 Years (2019)
    Danny Ings 24 £60,000 4 Years (2020)
    Divock Origi 21 £25,000 3 Years (2019)

Bascially this is why we are on the high side of the average wages paid but not up n that list of highest paying clubs over all.

There only one or two really big earners and compared to the city's and utds and chelseas the wages they are on are low.

Klavan must be on cloud 9 to get 55k per week from nowhere.

origi is a huge bargain of a wage there as well... compared to ings who was not on a free... well...

Matip is a stunningly good signing for us. Karius at 15k is decent but needs ot work hard and improve fast over next 6 months. Can needs a new contract urgently, Wijnaludm is not cheap at all.

You can see why a leiva, markovic and sakho are not really needed. Lucas' attitude and professionalism stadns to him that he is getting a game and was retained by Klopp. at 80k per week to sit there and do little really but be there when needed this speaks volumes for klopp's view of the guy.

The reality is for a squad player Klavan and lucas are over paid.
