It had a big spell of neglect and parts look more worn out than the SoL despite being 6 years younger. It lacks personality. It's big like, but that's the only thing going for it. Been nowt but a thorn in the side for the town and hemorrhages money. Not sure how Mowden Park keep it going on 1000 attendances. They paid 2m for it planning to do what George Reynolds planned with the footy but they're hardly flown up the leagues stuck in the 3rd tier for a good few years.

It wants knocking to the ground. Stain on the town. lol

And Spenny, and Bishop and West <laugh> He's a ****ing joke round that part of the world, he was no mobster, he was a free lance goon who spent half his time pick pocketing in clubs around county Durham on his tod. He did it when my Da ran the Top Hat, got caught and got a good ****ing kicking. The only safe cracking he did was with explosives. Didn't have skills or finesse to crack a safe properly. Just a petty thief and a coward.

Other side of the coin, Billy Hughes, great player, used to get in the pubs around Sunderland, quiet lad and well respected. Remember his brother too, only just. <laugh>.
