I had the perfect excuse to miss that game as I was gigging at a caravan park called Reighton Sands (30 miles north of Hull) - turned out I didn;t need to be there until 7:30 so I went to the game and left at full time to drive straight down!

Remember the six games in a row? remember the seasons of thinking we were down and then doing utterly daft things like beating chelskie away! Remember Reidy's time? It never really leaves you, its just doesn't, Fek it, we've got an American version of Dracula trying to drink the passion out of our club, but there were still 26,295 fans against Bolton.........We will get better, we will win again and the world will be a better place....FTM, FTW, FIA, KTF

I think somewhere along the way we've pissed Odin and Merlin off.

you can change your house, your wife, your car, your job but not your football team. As drum says we are cursed we need a priest to get us out of this mess, but I will be at the Millwall game in hope we win.

I don’t think you can wean yourself off the club once it’s in your veins.
    Can you stop going?
    Course you can!
Can you stop it ruining your weekend?
You learn to get better at it!
As s supporter who first went to Roker Park in 1975 and was bamboozled by the noise, rain flashing past the floodlights and euphoria when we scored; the club will always be special to me, The hardest part of joining the forces was being unable to attend matches on a regular basis and it got me into bother on numerous occasions.. I went AWOL for the Newcastle playoff game at St.James as there was no way I was missing that!! I still laugh thinking of the bloke who bellowed at me on my arrival back to base.. “I hope it was worth getting into this much **** for”? **** Yeah !!!
Internet, SKY tv made it better over the years as even being away from home meant you had a fighting chance of watching the games but I now find myself in a strange position as I now have a teaching job living down south.. I’m like a kid at Christmas with most weekends being my own and tickets easy to obtain. I’ve only missed 3 games home & away (excuse the pun!!) and I’ll be at the Millwall & Villa games next week.
Do I wish the club was better ran?
    Oh god yes!
Do I wish the team could win a game?
    Absolutely!?!
Do I wish my grandad hadn’t taken me to Roker Park that cold wet Weds night in September?
Not one bit, and I bet he often looks down and smiles at my misery and chuckles to himself knowing that ‘he’ did that!!!
In summary... we’re all doomed to years of misery but most of us wouldn’t change it for the world!!!

I’m still around the corner marra but the reason I’ve not been on here much lately is due to me both sorting my ‘digs’ in Fareham and completing various teaching/coaching & mentoring classes for my new role. I look forward to weekends at home but the travelling is a bit boring! We’ll have to have a catch up Dec/Jan sometime:emoticon-0148-yes:

How far did you go along the bypass? The big ground is the old ground, Mowden Park Rugby Club have that now, but further along the road is Blackwell Meadows a smaller Rugby Ground. That's a ground share with the footy team and Darlington Rugby Club. Both can be seen from the bypass

Blackwell Grange Golf club was ran by Billy Hughes for donkeys years.
