Yes. Brad Guzan. Signed on emergency loan for a month at the beginning of the January transfer window 2010/11. Late in January we extended it to 2 months. He went back to Villa having been with us for 59 days. We resigned him a week or so later because Mannone got injured, and he stayed with us for 32 days before going back. One broken emergency loan totalling 91 days, and the days in between can't count as part of the loan or it would mean he'd been here for more than 93.
Happy with the dealings. Agree with Premier Tiger E.L. Window. Sooo glad that we didn't mortgage several years to a journeyman striker DJ. Elmo great news, usually I'm pessimistic , however I strangely have a good feeling about Gedo and Fahti. Would have liked Kevin Phillips for the remainder of the season though.
I've just watched some You Tube clips - Gedo has scored some decent goals, albeit against some very suspect goal keeping and some equally dodgy defending - undecided.
Have we come out of the transfer window in better shape? Yes. Nuff said. How many goals do Cardiff's top goal scores have? Only 7 odd? hmm they must be **** then. Oh no they're top by a mile. Poodlism season is growing by the minute. Anyone who cries and moans because we're not splashing out 30k a week to get campbell or w/e can **** right off. UTT Silverware, we don't care
That never happens though does it? We always comfort ourselves by saying some awesome striker will be available in the emergency loan window, but in reality there's never anyone available apart from youngsters. If we wanted a proven striker it would have had to have been today. It seems like we tried our best but no ****er wanted to come. The window has been a success in the sense that we have added two players and lost none which is clearly a good thing. But the fact remains that the single biggest thing we needed was to add a striker who will fire us to promotion. Before the window we were behind Leicester, Cardiff and others in terms of strikers, they've added Wood and Campbell to their squads, can we really say we've done enough to bridge the gap in attacking quality by adding Gedo? Had anyone even heard of him before the rumours started? Signing the loan players permanently was a good thing and has improved our squad long-term, but it isn't going to get us promoted. We're a good side but we haven't been good enough for automatic promotion yet this season due to our attack and re-signing players we already had won't help that. Yes they needed signing up but it takes us no closer to achieving our goal.
First half of the season we were good enough for Automatic promotion. We have a deeper squad now. We are a new team. As a unit we should be getting more familiar with each-other's style of play. We also have more options and Aluko should be back mid march. There will probably be another striker coming in through the loan window - several of our targets didn't move today. Stop being a neurotic poodle who values your team via the measure of sky sports and get behind the most promising group of Players city have ever had in their respective division. Support and confidence is all they need. They have the ability.
Pleased! Not over the moon, but pleased. I believe that Prozzy getting Elmo's deliverance will prove a very good combo. I also believe Nick will compliment Geddo well (based on what I've simply read about him) I can't really say anything about Fathy yet, but sounds like a fairly interesting player.
Cardiff are 10 points clear, at the top. Stupid post. They're getting goals throughout the side - we aren't. Plus they have signed greedy bastard.
Cardiff are 7 points clear However agree they score from all over the pitch, but so can we on our day. Lets remain positive, anyone in the window is a risk, at least Gedo was desperate to come, DJC obviously wasn't, Frazier was just as big a risk and Leicester had already picked off the best prospect IMO, so not sure we could realistically done any better, as people have said getting Elmo back is a major bonus and we still have Sone to return in a few weeks. We can give a genuine push for promotion
The only striker we've brought in is an unknown qualtity & may need time. Aluko needed back ASAP. Elmos is the main plus however from this window. I's say reasonably happy but a nagging doubt remains over the goals..
upon reflection, the morning after and all that... I think we havent done TOO bad, yes getting a decent striker should have been a priority. The only way Prossy will come good, is to play him for 90 mins. I am not overly optimistic about our chances of promotion this season. Teams around us have increased their scoring prowess. And then there is us..
**** me Gedo hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and you are writing him off already. They don't give Golden Boots on the back of cornflake packets, not even in the African Leagues. About time some of you took a reality check. We have Elmo back so we can now bang crosses in from both sides of the park, something we didn't have against Wednesday and they exploited. I can see both Gedo and Prossy coming good from this.
