Some of the press has pilloried United for dumping the club's culture and principles. Like promoting youngsters, keeping managers very long term, not spending insane number of millions on superstars.

What is now more and more apparent is that these were not necessarily natural to United. They were down to one man, whose genius is now more recognised with time. When he left, he left an incredible void and took away the methods which he had built up over the years. Moyes showed that only one man could continue doing it the same way. Only Fergie could do it the Fergie way. To have expected Moyes and to expect LVG now to do it was and is unfair.

The man has gone and the club has to find its way back, managers and players will come and go like at any other club. We'll have our share of mercenaries and we'll have our share of duds.

United fans have better had realistic expectations. I do.

Lvg will do it his way and his way only. A way thats proven to work. Even sir alex himself took inspiration when he introduced a bunch of kids to the first team.

We are in good hands with van gaal. If the board give him the same freedom to get on with it, as they did sir alex, he will do very well for us. He will lay foundations for our future too.

As for buying mercs, weve been doing it for some time now. Keane, rio, rooney. All have demanded a pay rise. Keane became the highest paid player and so did rooney.

Look at cleverley ffs. A player brought through who would have gladly sat on his arse doing **** all over playing elsewhere.

I'd also expect a number of younger players to make the step up this season. Even with fewer games. I can see them on the bench mostly but the experience will help them.

There will be changes, weve seen many already but most will be positives. Even if now its harder to see them as that. It will ultimately lead to us winning the league in van gaals time here. At least once.

Not saying keane, rio and rooney are mercs by the way. Just that any player can portray such traits and weve been victim to it ourselves under fergie.

If you check SAF's record with youngsters, he only blooded them slowly to the first team. None of this play every game, as that is the certain way of causing long term injuries to young players. SAF maybe let them play one full game, then next week not even in the squad, and the third week on the bench. Pretty sure LVG will apply the same theory, thus getting the maximum of players when they peak in their mid to late 20's.

Other clubs over play young talent, often burning them out in their early 20's, and never fulfilling their true potential

Have read this quite a few times now on this board. Well, just to put this into perspective, SAF spent 25 years laying foundations for the future only for the board to allow Moyes to **** it all up by changing the entire backroom staff and breaking all continuity.
