He seems to be thinking that all debateable decisions are wrong decisions. Football is a funny game, sometimes you get the decisions and sometimes you don't. However LFC are currently were they are as that is CURRENTLY where they deserve to be. The whole thing just looks like deflection (just for BillyBob)
Maybe I shouldn't have included the beginning part of the article since people seem to be focusing on that bit rather than the actual article
Completely and disarmingly honestly, I don't think we deserve to be where we are, based on the way we've actually played.
Well, you've got to at least aspire to be a rival to Everton and Newcastle Exactly. Particularly bugs me as a Utd fan when people start claiming we'd have been screwed if an early goal for the opposition hadn't been disallowed / penalty had been given. Yeah, cos when Utd fall behind early in the match that's just game over...
What constitutes a debatable decision is debatable in itself. As has been pointed out, Suarez' perfectly good goal against the blues wouldn't have happened if he'd been sent off. On the other hand, then someone else could've stepped up and scored twice, who knows? What ifs and buts give us something else to argue about (just in case we're running out of topics), but in the end whatever happened is all that counts.
Putting the ball into the net is PART of the way you play. It surprises me how many fans keep on saying they played really well, and passed the ball great, and had 65% of the possession. Therefore deserved to win the match. No, if you cannot score from 10 chances then there is a problem and the team has not played that well. Also, agree with all who said that it is nonsense to strike all contentious decisions and work out the outcomes. if the event happens in the first half or any time with a lot of the match left, the course is radically changed and the outcome would be different. UNLESS the event occurs in the last few minutes (goals given, disallowed, penalties etc) and the match would not have realistically changed course though lack of time.
The league table would presently suggest that we compare poorly to many of our rivals. Leaving aside the 'ifs and buts', our points gained, goals scored and conceded, will confirm that opinion. However, the table acts just like a Balance Sheet in that it merely illustrates a position at a particular moment in time. It's not until you start the analyse the information further and add yet more information (Profit & Loss a/c in accountancy terms) that you can come to a more informed opinion of the future prospects of the club. When you do this further analysis, the balance between ourselves and our rivals starts to become more posititve. The world and the man with a blind dog knows that we must address our striking problems in the January window. If we assume that our purchase(s) are successful then the table is likely to change very quickly. However, it is usually assumed that, "you can't get value in January". Combined with our well known need, this would appear to almost guarantee that we end up with a donkey rather than a striker as far as our opponents are concerend. My own opinion is that this coming window is different in that there appears to be a number of quality players (from Drogba to Walcott and back) who could be available. Now i know that many of you will give our a collective moan at this statement but the financial situation in Spain, Portugal, and Italy could well mean that bargains could be there to be had in January. So, I'm still optimistic. The future's bright. The future is RED.
Pretty much agree with this Dave which is why I put currently in capitals. I only argue the point of if this decision went our way etc, as the point is that it didn't.
The only way is up. The future is bright under BR and with the quality of kids we've got already coming thru with the likes of Ibe and Sinclair and a few others still to come in the next 2-3 years. If FSG do sell OR get their ****ing act together off the field and investment wise, here's no reason we can't be back in the top 4 at the end of the 2014/15 season at the very latest.
