TB is currently boasting about Everton winning more than 10 games in a calender year for the first time since 1987.
Good article. But it does just point out what wehave all been saying. We need Lucas in midfield and we need to add better finishers/more of goal threat. Those stats prove how waistful we are going forward. Lucas returning will help improve all our defensive threats. It will see Allen and Gerrard move in to more forward roles, which will improve our passing accuracy in the final third. Gerrard being further forward will add another finisher and bigger goal thread. Adding two new, quality wide forwards, or a wide forward and a striker (who may be an impact sub a lot), will improve our CCC and goal scoring stats.
1. a lot of hard work put into this as usual by that site... but.... 2. tomkins has indeed made up a lot of his stats and used dubious sources for things like transfer fees so.... 3. i opened it up expecting to find some wag had put "oh we don't compare that badly to norwich or wigan" 4. there are a fewpoints that need to be made relative to what you see on the pitch rather than what pure stats show; 4.a the goals to shots stat about our defense is ok but take it back to reality and you see that most of the time we are very secure, not having an issue and then suddenly we find we've either made a shocking error or just have way over comitted and we find a situation where we've two cbs v three men with joe allen scampering back. in other owrds most of the time we are shooting ourselves in the foot. see everton goals, see man city 2-2, see glen johnsons powerpuff tackle in left back slot as some examples. 4b. plan b being dribbling. well plan a is play it wide look up and find nobdoy so pass it back. we have no penetration at all up front. none. yet when suarez plays off the shoulder he socres goals. go figure. suzrez is coming out of the middle reputedly creating chances for others to get in there as plan a. if plan b is him picking it up from the winger when he's not had anyone to cross to and then trying a few nutmegs thats fair. The everton stats on crosses tell a lot. they are simply getting bodies i nthere and having baines and the like donkey it in 20 times a game. this is why bale is considered world class in england but Real etc laughed and never bid. running and then driving it in tothe box aimlessly works in england. thats why we bought carrol and downing... funnily though we then forgot to actually do it. 4c. if we can alter relaity with a dubious ref table we would do it, we can't we are miles off 4th and 4th is bang on for anyone half decent this year so august 31st is an absolute crime in my eyes. FSG, Ayre and rodgers really let the fans down with carroll and dempsey IMO
hahahaha, I can't believe you're posting that as some form of challenge to my post. Did I dream Rodgers ringing Wiley to moan about all the decisions that you supposedly weren't getting & whining that Suarez was being treated unfairly, just days before he performed his triple pike with twist vs Stoke? Not the Liverpool way? Do me a fooking favour.
One interesting point I noted was the struggling Newcastle firepower, going on how the accusation last year was how crap it was we bought xyz & they bought abc. Those same players (excluding Ba his figures are similar to Suarez) don't look as crash hot this year. Obviously didn't cost 35 mill either lol. Conspiracy theories aside, I don't like dismissing that many ref mistakes with the cliched "evens itself out" it doesn't always and saying so lets officials away with a **** job too easily. There are millions at stake. And it's not a good comparison with hitting woodwork as that IS in our players control and so our fault. But I assume these officials of officials do actually chastise & demote refs that cost teams points rather than just punishing them for showing a yellow rather than a red....
For all the mistakes they make, I really do sympathise with referees. They need video technology at all times because the speed of the game is faster than ever, players dive and go down easily, the stupid offside rule which allows offside players to be onside in a different phase etc etc. It's extremely difficult to get everything right, especially in such a hostile envinronment - the fans will boo but the players surround refs and it puts pressure on them. It shouldn't but ref's are only human. The sooner we have the 4th official or someone else, who is constantly looking at video replays etc and communicating with the ref throughout the match, the better.
1. refs and linesmens mikes should be open to the tv. they should be made to say thier decision out loud so all can know precisely why they did something. 2. refs get no sympathy from me when they wave away stuff without dealing with it (diving, pens etc) 3. linesmen give refs zero support and half the time bottle decisions by never flagging for obvious fouls. linesman in the half wehre an incident occurs should be made to flag ALL incidences even if the ref blows. 4. i totally agree videos should be used. 4th official is there to toss off for 85mins of the game then hold up a board for a few subs. get a replay system in there.
Couldn't agree more. The 4th or even 5th official could be watching the live Sky stream in the stand & be linked to the ref via mic. The ref could ask the 5th official to review a call or the 5th official could tell the ref in real time that he's seen an incident. The reasons against it are feeble imo, as it'd take seconds & we'd get a vast improvment in decision making. I'd rather have the game held up for 30 seconds than see a player sent off or a penalty awarded wrongly.
I tend to agree Jimmy but they are also paid nowadays so should be fit enough to at least keep up with the play. And if collectively their decisions end up in the sacking of a manager (not talking about ours here) they are still reffing next year. The on the pitch abuse would be sorted out if they recorded the mikes pick up on game day (in PL or Champioship at least) and suspended those heard abusing officials. And yes, some kind of video ref , American style throw a flag at the 4th official should be adopted. Limit it to one for each manager which gets given back if proved correct. Enough of this parity throughout the game excuse. Sunday pub team isn't losing 5 million plus with a wrong call bottom half PL team might just be.
Yeah because if we'd been given the good goal at Everton we'd not have been 2 points better off for that. Simplemuch Yer all making me laugh, FA and refs association can only realisticly be busted by FIFA UEFA of which both are corrupt as fk anyway so the FA are pretty much unaccountable
There was nothing subjective about us getting robbed by a terrible decision at Goddison now was there?
Not really as the scorer of said goal shouldn't have been on the pitch after 2 bookable offences or the second could easy have been a red on it's own - see I can come up with my own subjective opinion on the referees decisions as well mate. We had 2 good goals disallowed at the same end that cost us 2 points against Newcastle. It happens.
To be honest, I think play should continue until the 'TV ref' spots the infringement - that way, there are no stoppages in play whilst the officials review the incident. The referee on the pitch should merely act in accordance with what the 'TV ref' says. He should also use his ability to defuse any situations that arise on the pitch (any scuffles etc).
They'd never wear that mate, they'll fight against the idea of even having the TV ref, if the suggestion was made that the TV ref was in essence running the show, they'd fume. Refs are on a power trip, I'm sure that's what drives them, remove the control & they'd not accept it imo.
