Ryan Giggs and Craig Bellamy not singing the national anthem of Great Britain was bang out of order! They should be honoured to be there! On a side note will the National anthem be played before every game or will they save it for the podium?
Stella McCartney designed the Olympic kit...it's all atrocious. Supposed to be a blue union jack (why??) and far too fussy.
I think it's OK. I also feel slightly pleased knowing there are English and Welsh players out there. I think the Scottish and Irish FAs missed an opportunity.
A lot of footballers are too cool or smug to sing the national anthem, that's why I was pleased that Hodgson insisted on it for the England team.
Perhaps a lesson could be taught to Scotland/Wales and give them their independence. Give them no access to our oil, resources, trade, the NHS, and our MoD. See how long they last before they beg to come back.
I think because it indicates that you are not doing it just for yourself. Hence why so many cry when the flags go up and they realise what they have done. Not just another title or trophy, but symbolically for your country.
Well a lot of footballers are greedy selfish twits who ARE just doing it for themselves. As for the Olympic Kits, some of the other sports look okay. I think basketball has a good kit IIRC.
Technically, Great Britain has no national anthem (just like we have no constitution, and iirc, no flag). 'God Save The Queen' is the Queens anthem, in a similar way to 'Hail to the Chief' is the American Presidents Anthem.
The Welsh have a national anthem the English do not. The GB anthem is also used as the English anthem. How would you feel as an English man or women at being asked to sing the national anthem of another country? I must admit I am with all those who say give the Scots, the Welsh and the Northern Irish full and complete independance. That will bugger up their free prescriptions, public sector jobs, free university education and care for the elderley.
You're not being asked to sing the national anthem another country though, as Wales is still a part of GB even if it's also used as the English national anthem.
Wales isn't actually a country. The UK is a country. Claiming Wales is a country is the equivalent of claiming that Rhode Island is a country.
Why would Welsh players sing the same anthem that is used for the English team? I'm not suprised. On a simmiler note, it's about time England use Jerusalem.
