Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread. There are some really great posts & stories that you have shared. It just verifies my choosing of a really great club, with like minded souls. It's amazing that so many of the posts follow a similar vein. It looks like we have a large following of 2nd generation Irish amongst us, myself included. Maybe we should get Guinness back as our sponsors ;-)
Good on you! That's what football is all about, passion, not supporting the team that wins the most trophies!
I'm a Northerner through and through, lived up here all my life, but my entire family on my Mums side live down south. When we were kids every year , religiously, we would travel down at easter and christmas and every boxing day, good friday and easter monday if it was a home game at LR then i would be there. Over the years when my family travelled north for matches we would go too. I've been to Anfield , Old Trafford, Goodison, all watching the R's (mostly losing!) and also less glamorous grounds like bury, blackpool and preston (where i saw us get beat 5-0!) I was given a roy wegerle signed photo one christmas which i still have in the loft somewhere and my extremely tenuous link is that at one time AKUTR's was printed in Congleton!! All this contributes to my life long following of the R's, in spite of my Man U supporting freinds mostly asking you support Q , P Who? I'll always be a Ranger , games are great family occasions and i'll always be that northerner in the middle of you london boys having a wry smile as the songs "you dirty northern B*stard" and "If you can't talk proper shut ya mouth" ring in my ears!!!

This thread has cheered me up, to the point that I am posting for the first time....needed a reminder of why we put ourselves through this after looking at the doom, gloom, anger and (great) gallows humour on other threads. Born Wembley, brought up Harrow ('Arra) first match 3-0 v Cardiff early in Jago promotion season, 10 years old - immediately hooked as was my Dad (took me cause he had heard we played good footie, despite having been brought up a Spurs fan..). Its all about your first experience and the style and character of the team - the only competition for me was 4 years living in Italy and following AC Milan in the Gullit/Van Basten era but I kept the faith (just couldn't afford to fly home)...and at least I am used to dodgy billionaire owners. Lets enjoy the next season whatever happens - christ we've waited long enough...
