How big is SAFC?

The definition "big club" has changed considerably since the huge money came into the game. Pre-war II we were classed as that because we commanded huge support, turned out good teams and won trophies. All this achieved mainly by producing a team made up of home grown talent strengthened by players bought to fit in rather than to build a team around.

Nowadays we are a hugely supported provincial club, with no "big club" finance from European football gained by finishing in the top four or brought in by other riches.

For my money the only properly run club in the EPL is Arsenal.

You ****ing daft knacker. Leeds were living it up in Europe not so long ago, Forest won the European cup twice in a row, you base a big club on crowds, and history from over 50- 60 year ago, even longer.

You know **** all.....end off, as you like to put it.

From a Liverpool supporter's perspective, I wouldn't put you in the big big club bracket but you're a decent sized English club with a good solid reputation. I can't admit to knowing much about your history but Sunderland have a good fan base and very good stadium.

You aren't in the top bracket of teams, you might not be in that second tier of teams even, but you're in the top 20 certainly and that has to count for something.

If you're truly interested, I'd go as far as to say you might have some international significance too.

As you can tell I'm not exactly British born and bred but coming from Serbia, I can tell you most football fans could name Sunderland in a list of notable British teams.

You might also enjoy knowing that the Serbian team I support, Partizan, knocked Newcastle out of the CL qualifiers back in 2003

Big deal f**king Leeds were playing in Europe but where are they now? no where & the only reason they got into Europe was because of MONEY. If you look at history from day 1 then we are bigger than Leeds & Forest you thick f**king bellend.

Of course it is now you mug but back in the day it wasn't. teams like Man united, Arsenal & Liverpool have made they own money so I respect them but teams like Man city & Chelsea just got lucky.
