To be fair, over 15 years Curbs got a lot, lot more right than wrong. Picking up @ForestHillBilly point, this smacks to me of Robinson being told who he can have. An 18 year old kid FFS !
It may well be, but Chelsea have the best youth set up as things stand - and as a 19 year old, let's try and give the kid a chance. We're sometimes far too quick to start writing off players. He seems to be a lb too - though it's 50/50 to what's his best position when you speak to Chelsea fans.
I can't ever get motivated to "get behind loans" - they are not even our players for starters so what is the point? The steep decline started when Pardew became addicted to loans
As a club we've generally had bad luck when it comes to loans, but then there are examples through the football league that prove they can be effective. I personally prefer a young, talented loan compared to a 30 something journey man.
We need 5/6 first team- ready League 1/ Championship standard players in Jan. Half this team at least is not good enough. Think Ricky Holmes- standard x 6
Tony Watt sent back to Charlton by Hearts. That must be the 6th club that he has parted on bad terms with. Hopefully we pay him off in January - he is a waste of rations
Apparently KR recalled him, rather than hearts sending him back. Though it's fair to say the move hasn't worked out.
Hearts to cut short Charlton striker Tony Watt’s loan deal please log in to view this image Tony Watt has scored just one goal in 17 appearances for Hearts. This is from an Edinburgh paper.
He could do a job for us if he puts his mind to it. Does KR want him? Does he think he can be the one to turn the bad boy around? If Hearts sent him back, that maybe just as a stepping Stone to the next loan deal, but if we are paying his wages, I'd like to see KR run the rule over him. He may yet turn sour again, but hey, we've got room for some fresh blood in our squad, and if he finally decided to get his head where it should be, he could yet be an asset.
I can't feel optimistic about this. Apply the Curbs test- would Curbs want him at Charlton ? We know the answer!
Would Curbs want Samir Carruthers on a free transfer from MK Dons Rumours are that we are about to sign him. The lad must be more mobile in the middle than Crofts / Jacko / Foley / Ulvestad but that is hardly saying much is it. We should be signing Championship standard players for fees if we want promotion.
New signing -Jake Forster-Caskey on loan from Rotherham. Or rather, we are taking the loan over from Rotherham.
Was highly rated a few years ago, but seemed to lose his way after a few injuries. Disappointed it's another loan.
Big Sam taking Palace down- it's good, but not as good as if it had been pardew going down with them.
I still can't see them going down. Big Sam loves a transfer window and I'm sure he'll bring in a few bodies that know his style of play.
Derby County have joined Sheff Wed in wishing to sign Morgan Fox in January. Assume their interest is prompted by Chris Powell.
I wish I was born under Roland's star sign. Must be time to put Edwards in the shop window, sorry , first team.
