Today I left the Labour Party after 32 years membership. Not because of Corbyn, who will go after the General Election, because of Momentum, which has taken control of the party for the foreseeable future. The Green Party is the only one which is telling the truth on the most important issue of the day- the environment.

The thing is FHB, if the Green Party restricted itself to Green issues I wouldn't have a problem with them but... and it is a big but... their non-environmental policies are those of the Communist Party and some of the least environmentally friendly governments in the world are those of the far left ..(ie China) … they try to portray themselves as an environment friendly middle of the road Party but, in truth, they are anything but.

The least environmentally friendly countries are USA and Canada if you go by CO2 emissions per head. Hardly left-wing, same goes for Bolsinaro's government. I regard the left Vs Right debate as a red herring in environmental affairs, the real enemies are complacency and nationalism.

I have voted Labour throughout my voting life. But will not be doing so in the future. I am not happy with the way the party is being run. Corbyn is not the right man as the leader. As FHB has said Momentum are getting stronger and for me that is not the way I want the Labour Party to go.

Whatever analysis you put on the figures, the fact is that since the scientists gave us the cold facts 35 years ago the human race has collectively given the middle finger to the scientific experts. The more they tell us about the consequences the more fossil fuel we burn, and this applies left, right and centre. Environmental issues always take second place in major policy decisions, whatever the political leaning.

Poor old Boris. He hasn’t got a thing right since he became PM.

No, but Corbyn is unable to take advantage. It's like keeping a striker in the team who misses open goals and penalties every week.

As Dodgy Dave said when he called the referendum "Of course we don't know what demons we will unleash".

Interesting speech by Sir John Major, he outlined what appears to be the Government's Cunning Plan to legally implement a no-deal B#!=¿t.

People who say that all politicians are the same, only in it for themselves should ask why, if that is the case, would Rory Stewart sacrifice a career in politics rather than give up his beliefs. A decent man who has served his country with distinction.

Extinction Rebellion have said they are "very sorry" if you die today because their protests prevent an ambulance reaching you.

But it's just tough luck. We're all going to die anyway according to them, unless we become grass-eating peasants in a Marxist year zero paradise that Pol Pot would be proud of.

Frankly I'm surprised they don't actually target hospitals.
Imagine all the energy being wasted trying to heal sick and wounded people. Every hospital must have a massive carbon footprint.

Have fun if you're trying to put food on the table by going to work in London for the next two weeks.
I'm looking forward to seeing the police dancing and celebrating with long haired student layabouts, and Sadiq Khan joining in too.

The 'Green' candidate for 'Mayor of Londistan' told some sort of Green conference this weekend that she would instruct the police NOT to arrest these 'Extinction Rebellion' terrorists but instead to try to emphasise with them... but how can you emphasise with a terrorist?

Extinction Rebellion is only half of the discussion. The other half is global warming, and the unfolding cataclysm.

Indeed... I have no problem with their cause <ok> … but their tactics stink!

Indeed they do. But how do you combat the real enemy, which is complacency? I don't know.

There is only one way to 'save' the environment as they wish to (return it to pre-industrial cleanliness).

    End all industry.
That means no cars, no trains, no planes.
No electricity, no gas, no clean water.
It means returning average life expectancy to 40.
It means back to an infant mortality rate of 80%
It means anybody who is weak, old, ill or seriosly injured being left to die.
It means genocide - the reduction of the world's population by 90%, then never allowing it to increase again.

No monsters in human history - not even the Nazis or ISIS - ever had that as their guiding vision.
These people are misguided fools, who want to feel important and have clear consciences.

I'd like to see how many of them would be willing to mine iron ore with stone tools, or subsistence farm for 18 hours a day all their lives just to avoid starvation, or sew themselves into animal skins for six months every winter to avoid freezing to death, or try to light a simple fire with a few sticks without giving off carbon emissions.
Or even give up their smart phones.

What you do is work with 'Big Business' and say to them … look if you don't clean up your act them we will stop buying from you, form a global pressure group to talk to big business with the backing of hundreds of millions of customers who will be willing to back an (achievable) demand for action from these big companies. Companies should be forced to issue a statement about how they propose to be zero (net) carbon emissions by say 2030.

I for one can not understand why ALL plastic packaging of products sold in supermarkets isn't recyclable? Surely this must be possible these days?

I'm a misguided fool, Lardi, according to you. Because I read the scientific evidence 35 years ago and could find no fault in it. I gave up discussions on the subject, because of being told that the scientists were wrong, there have always been blips in the climate etc etc. I wish I had been wrong. My wife and I went on one Extension Rebellion March, but I don't want to get nicked, so not any more, but still find it distressing to see what the human race is doing to Mother Nature.

and how the hell are smart meters saving energy?????? All they do is allow energy companies to get meter readings on the cheap.
