I saw his FIRST game for us against Swansea reserves.

The gate that night was 2,000 as opposed to the regular 200.

Paolo di Canio was a fantastic player.

Better than £3m Joe Gomez? One of the commentators on 5live yesterday was saying that Liverpool struggle when he doesn't play.

Players like Eddie Firmani, Derek Hales etc were great for us. But Allan Simonson was a class apart. Joe Gomez is still at the start of his career. Let us see how he progresses. I said when I first saw him as a sixteen year old playing for the U21s that he would play for England.

I can’t help thinking the state mourning at Leicester is now reaching the OTT stage.

    This is England, not Thailand.

The carefully orchestrated scenes at the Leicester stadium today went a bit too far IMO.

I would tend to agree, though I acknowledge they really did love him.

I expect they will have got the need for public grief more or less out of their systems after today.
No disrespect towards the personal feelings of Leicester fans, of course many will take a long time to get over this. But they won't need to do so in public so much now.

Well, he must be an admirer of Michael Foot.
There was what I thought was a good point made by Harold Evans on Andrew Marr. WW1 was started by the forces of nationalism, and nationalism is on the rise today in a number of countries.

Politics should play no part in Remembrance Sunday.

Because of their failure to act effectively to curb rising tyranny during peace time, it was politicians who declared War and sent those men off to die.
In my opinion no politician has the right to stand at the Cenotaph and lay wreaths.

Those soldiers should be remembered and represented by their families and descendants - real people - not the bloody establishment.
