Katrien Meire's assertion that Charlton fans should feel privileged and grateful to have a brief opportunity to admire good young Charlton players before they were sold to become superstars at other Clubs, is just one of the reasons she was so hated. She cannot possibly have believed fans of a Club will feel gratitude about the deliberate and systematic sales of good young players each season. Therefore her comments were purposefully provocative and intended to offend. Every time I spare her a thought I feel happier that she is finally gone.
Laughable Political Correctness in the BBCs coverage of Fleetwood v Leicester today. They really cannot help themselves.
A little piece online from an ex-Charlton player... https://www.theleaguepaper.com/featured/9649/lisbie-change-is-needed-at-charlton/ There was one overriding emotion that consumed Kevin Lisbie when he attended a Charlton match last season – sadness. The 39-year-old striker spent 11 years at the south London club, playing more than 100 Premier League matches in a successful period for the Addicks. But the club have slipped down the leagues, currently finding themselves in League One. And their decline has stunned Lisbie. “I went to the final game of last season (against Swindon) and it was quite sad to see The Valley so empty,” he said. “I remember there being 25,000 people every week, and then to go there and see around 5,000 was really sad. “There were a lot of people who looked quite upset and sad about the situation. Even though they weren’t in a position where they were going to get relegated, it looked like they were getting relegated.” Many fans have called for owner Roland Duchatelet to sell the club, and the Belgian businessman has admitted that is a possibility following the resignation of CEO and director Katrien Meire this week. Lisbie says the supporter are desperate for a passionate owner, to help take them back up the Football League. “Even if Charlton got promoted, I’m not sure everybody would be happy,” he claimed. “I think people want new owners in and someone who cares about the club. The fans are very passionate and they really care about the club. They want someone who also cares about the club and wants to see it go in the right direction.”
The fans do want someone who cares about the club. Except for a few who want someone (Roland) who doesn't give a ****.
Not only doesn’t give a sh1t, also now seems to be giving the ailing club a departing kick in the bollox during this transfer window. It’s almost as if he never cared about promotion.
FA Cup third round: Brighton V Palace I did not watch it, but just heard a commentator say there was one yellow card in the whole game, right at the end. That does not sound much like a Cup Tie between sworn enemies. Did the VAR kill the competitive edge?
Sadly not news on our takeover, but was privy to a new bid for Newcastle last night. Done at a club in Florence at 4am this morning. We was asked today by the New bidder (after drunkenly speaking to MA at that time) “Newcastle aren’t going down are they?”. Gives you an idea of potential investors and how aware they are of the moves they are making. Here’s hoping our new owner has a more interested involvement. Canadian/American consortium, so when it drops in the press this story will carry more weight.
I am enjoying watching the BBC ripping itself apart over equal pay (which is a nonsense) All those highly paid public money supplicants, spluttering over their lattes and twirling their Guardians In outrage. The women BBC presenters, particularly in sport and on the radio, are almost uniformly useless and unwatchable. TMS has been destroyed this winter by tokenism Carrie Gracie is another example on Today - garbled, awful regional accent. Has the bloody cheek to resign from one public money position and straight into another one because the BBC is now scared of her. What a contrast to the high quality female journalists on Sky Sports News.
