Ooh ..... I wouldn't fancy that, I was in there one Saturday lunchtime for about three hours.... about seven pints (increasing in strength) finishing off with the London Porter.... felt a bit iffy that night
Not sure, Kish. Someone at work mentioned over lunch about a bar crawl and they had a list of 17 micro pubs in that vicinity. He said it was good fun, but some of the spots were genuinely tiny.
If I was in Whitstable I'd just stick to Shepherd Neame, I just love the taste of those Kent Golding hops. Not too keen on the Greenwich Meantime though, it being a keg beer.
When I was a drinker, I used to love the Harveys of Lewes ales, such as Tom Paine. I loved them too much, though.
10 years ago today was the London bombings. One of those moments you'll never forget and will always remember where you were. I was travelling in to university on the underground when the train was held for a significant amount of time (leaving from Kings cross to Cockfosters), to which a whole carriage was getting frustrated and angry (no one was to know to be fair). I remember getting off and up to the station, and it was one of the most surreal moments as people were crying, and the bus drivers were all stood in the station whilst their busses were unattended outside. An awful day. RIP to all who lost their lives that day.
It's one of those a date which will live in infamy. Remember getting on the train, myself on the way to University, and everything terminating at Lewisham. It was not until someone told me that the entire transport system had shut down; and that we'd have to go back home. Watching the images coming over the television was horrific. That was one sad walk home, thinking about the poor people.
Sad to see Anthony Wordworth go to Southend on a free. Still only 26. A bright future snuffed out by injuries. He was my personal Darren Purser or Hayden Mullins. I always thought he would end up at Charlton to solve our ten year(?) LM problem. Don't want him now though.
My memories of 7/7 are tainted with a little self-disgust because I can remember finding out about it when my Chemistry teacher burst out crying in a lesson. She told us what had happened and that her husband was a firefighter. Someone asked whether he was affected and she said no he works in Norwich. So I still associate 7/7 with finding that anecdote funny. My first week of secondary school was the same week as 9/11. Hello to big school. Of course I hate firemen anyway. Driving around in their Aston Martins and saving people.
Poor lady - finding out her man was from Norwich. 9/11 I remember getting home from school, turning on sky sports news to find that (and most of sky's channels) redirecting you to sky news.
I thought that it's pertinent at this point to mention that I am in no way, shape or form, affiliated with CAFC_red!
Load of rubbish - and we find ourselves relying on Ballance and Root again. I've loved Bell over the years, but his form is dismal and needs to be rested. Sadly I don't see KP coming back in what so ever, so it's a question of whether we move the former names up the order and bring an all rounder in, or a specialist batsman I'm not sure we have.
just been down to see the photoshoot on greenwich campus (i work there). spoke to igor a bit, had a good break, still got a bit of an achilles injury. says there's not much he can do about it because it's all because of the hard pitches here. being a part time pro athelete myself (i do parkruns) i totally empathise. my ankles and shins hurt badly after running round avery hill. did say he's glad that he's got a big strike partner this year. said it's what he needs to help his game.
