Fair play to the 741 fans who went to the Valley this evening to watch Charlton defeat Fulham's academy XI in a five goal thriller which will not soon be forgotten. Reeves, Dodoo and Aribo have netted tonight to secure top spot for CAFC in Southern Group A
I was one of the few to go last night. We didn't play very well. It was an open game with Fulham controlling the game for the first twenty minutes. Reeves took his goal well and Dodoo surprised everybody by heading the second. Aribo got the winner in injury time. Jamie Mascoll was the star of the show at left back. He is deployed by the U23s on the right or left side of midfield. He is very quick and was up and down the line all night He was bought from Dulwich Hamlet and is 20. Aribo also had a good game and should be playing Sunday instead of Kashi.
I’m surprised by how little Aribo has played this season, as he looked and looked like the next gem to come through the academy. Rightly or wrongly, KR has a clear 11 who he trusts and it will only take an injury or suspension to change that.
Reeves and Marshall will be playing for sixty minutes on Sunday and I expect Aribo to start. I wouldn't be surprised if Magennis is rested.
KR said Josh would be rested for a game, so I'm sure that it is the Truro game. And with Dodoo on fire it's a certainty.
Magennis, Clarke and Kashi will not be playing on Sunday. Few bits and pieces from last nights meeting. We now have scouts in England, Ireland, Scotland . Gallen is the chief Scout but Brian Stein, Roger Cross do scouting for us. Alex Rae is our scout in Scotland. Bowyer says team spirit is much better than last Season. They hope to bring in a loan striker in January, they are already talking to his agent. But won't buy a striker unless he can play in the Championship and score twenty goals. They wanted to keep Novak but in the last two hours of the transfer window, he insisted on wanting to leave. Dodoo was a last minute body. Best will be playing in U23 game against QPR. They can sign him if they want. Team for Sunday. Phillips, Solly, Konsa, Sarr, Dasilva, Forster-Caskey, Jackson, Holmes, Reeves, Marshall, Dodoo.
Won't buy a striker unless he can play in the Championship and score 20 goals? We couldn't buy a 20 goal Championship striker for two seasons when we were in the Championship! How are we going to be able to buy such a player in January as a League One side? What that ludicrous statement boils down to is that Charlton won't be buying a striker in January. If we win promotion this season, Duchatelet had better sell up during the summer before season 2018-19 kicks off. Because he will certainly refuse to invest in any Championship quality players. It will be the same old double-talk; "We won't buy a player unless he is good enough to be worth £5m to £8m but we can get him for peanuts." Which translates as "We won't buy any decent players." This regime never changes its tune. They won't do this or do that unless they can strike an impossibly good deal, which never actually happens in the real world. So instead fans are asked to accept loans and free transfers and players like Dodoo.
But KR told us we would be "Having a right go in the January window". Oh well, not fair on the poor chap to take his words seriously.
Indeed FHB. Like all the regime leaders, best to ignore what they say and just judge them on what they do. KR is doing a pretty decent job so far this season; his results do all the 'talking' that needs to be done.
He can't help tying himself in knots, trying to appease his employer and the fans simultaneously. As long as he stops doing the tunnel jumps I'll cop a deaf 'un to his verbal contortions.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...reen-dale-meadow-partners-gavin-a7994291.html A long article, but a very good read on the issues surrounding Dulwich Hamlet and being caught in the middle of their owners and the council. Highly recommend it if you have 10 minutes to spare.
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...red-pay-shareholder-high-court-valeri-belokon The first step for Blackpool fans removing the cancer that has plagued their club. Congratulations. Oyston paying himself as £11million as a director is ludicrous. God knows why it’s taken so long for this to be proved.
Interesting news. Got a feeling KR will get the award, but Amos will miss out. An attacking outfield player will get it I expect.
A second nomination for Amos - one which you can vote in: https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5a02f0a46c9ed/vote-for-ben-amos-as-the-pfa-fans-player-of-the-month
Sir Alan Curbishley's 60th today. been watching the clips of him posted by the club and of other links. such shame to see what we have to put up with now. they were proper football people then. when you hear him talk about Lennie, Rob Lee etc it makes you wonder when it will be that we start talking about Yohann Thuram-Ulien and lepoint in the same light
