A Newcastle fan of all people should know not to base their opinion of any player or team on MotD. It is the most distorted representation of football bar the highlights broadcast in North Korea of their World Cup campaign. Big team bias and selective footage galore. Admittedly, the reel you are referring to where Yaya Toure ran rings around Fer was not the latter's proudest moment, but he was a long way from the worst performer and his performance actually reflected his team mates' movement. Fer has been superb and as mentioned above, has deservedly won his two starts for Holland. Delighted to hear that opposition think he's been disappointing though.
Very good OP Vietnam and I agree with your views on the new players. Like others, I have been impressed with how Fer has progressed over the 11 games so far. The technical ability was there from the beginning, but he is now reading the play much better and his pass success rating on Whoscored (85.7%) suggests how well he is using the ball once he gets it. His overall rating is 7.19, which is only .7 below Yohan Cabaye, whose pass success rate is only 78%. Cabaye has played in the PL far longer and I'm convinced that Fer will continue to improve as the season goes on. I also feel that there's a lot more to come from RvW and Hooper as well. The adjustment has been less difficult for Elmander and Olsson, because they both have considerable PL experience. Their main adjustment has been to the other city players, and those players to them. We need more time to see how far Redmond can go, but he certainly seems to have the potential.

You must be enjoying the season then For what it's worth, I've had positive things to say on Norwich in the past. Bassong on form, for example, is one of my favourite defenders in the league. If you know anything about your players, you'll know I've watched him from 20 feet away as well. I don't discriminate on here based on the colour of the team's shirt you support. I have players I like and players that I see potential in like Mignolet (who I've liked since his early days at Sunderland) and Michu. Now if you're fundamentally incapable of reacting to the fact I haven't as yet seen enough from your new recruits to excite me, with anything more than tribal pack spitting, why bother posting on here? I'm not trying to incense the locals, just have a debate. P.s The Fer/Cabaye comparison is HILARIOUS. Cabaye has been in decline since his first season with us, suffering from depression etc and definitely hasn't hit the highs he's capable of this season (he scores the odd long ranger or free-kick, but he doesn't boss games or drive us as he can). If he's still rated above Fer, who you lot thinking is having a great season, that only furthers my point. HE gets in the France squad all the time still, with Debuchy (who had a torrid torrid time adapting to this league, and still hasn't properly), so that's hardly a glowing recommendation for Fer, either. Like I say, I think he's got talent, but he's not getting me man-jacked just yet.
Then you'll see I've been critical his tactical decisions at time, which I stand by. His signings have been good for us at the right time. I think majority of the criticism towards Hughton has been fair but most of the Norwich fans I would say sit on the fence with him.

I don't think we are annoyed that you are being critical Judean, it's that you're being critical of a player that is getting praise for his performances. And then you pick out Bassong as a player you think is quality (I happen to agree) but he was dropped for the last game (Rightly so on recent performances), so I guess you haven't been keeping up and there for you could stand to listen to the people that happen to see these players week in and week out. I wouldn't go on the Newcastle board and start talking about their players then get all uperty when they say they are better/worse than I think. However, I do feel some of us Norwich posters do sometimes get offended a bit easily

Jeez! What's with people? TJPF is not a WUM, he has made relevant and sensible contributions before on our board (e.g. when CH was first appointed), and if his opinion is that our new boys are, by and large, not up to full speed yet, I have to say I agree with him -- even Fer who has had his ups and downs. Fact is, our team is not yet up to speed full stop, so what's the big issue?
