Bloody advert that keeps popping up on Channel 4 racing, making me dive for the mute button.

Big Mac and his shouting can be a bit annoying but that's nothing compared to the idiot that he's trying to shut up in the advert. Give me strength.

Almost as bad as the Dubai ad promoting the Abu Dhabi bankrolled bankrupt "country" that owes 36.9 bn to Dubai World investors but sails along sweetly with a GDP deficit comparable with Greece.

Anyone who has a pension linked to companies involved with, and shafted by,these welchers will struggle to fathom the continued largess of the autocracy courted by our royalty and a few fools on here who think horses are left by the stork..(that was nearly as long as a Hugh McIlvanney sentence!)

Rant over!...for now!

The advert is particularly annoying when I am trying to watch the racing to forget two recent weeks in orbit in Bavaria where I managed to lose my passport! Fellow contributors; please do not be as stupid as me as this is considered a serious transgression of UK security. Thankfully there is a British Consulate in Minich with a delightful lady who, like myself, was born in Edinburgh. Despite our kinship I had to provide numerous police reports plus an itinery for my transport back to 'good old blighty' - this meant no cheapos with Easyjet. Ah well that's me off the gun and fames until Auteuil in November.

Rant over!!! (I think).

Bookies advertising pays the bills, but ultimately if one bookie is offering a bigger price than the other, that is where I am going to go. All the special offers and mobile apps mean nothing to me.

When Royal Ascot is on Channel 4, perhaps they will have commercial breaks instead of fashion coverage.

Now that Glorious Goodwood is over we will stop seeing that Channel 4 trailer for it that starts with a blatant lie – “100,000 people”. Five days racing, 20,000 punters through the turnstiles is 100,000. But that does presume that none of them are there all five days – counting the same people over and over makes the statistics look good but it is the triumph of marketing over reality.

Furniture Village are back sponsoring on ITV3, I wish they would get the gorgeous redhead back in their advertising breaks (that is not to say that the blonde is undesirable). Ooops, slipped into dirty old man mode again...

true, but they're the worst to bet with in my experience.

Toon: Couldn't agree more. Their prices were so lousy I quit them, know I can't go back but nevermind, they are as tight as a duck's........................<yikes>

Oddy: Their ads are not always good IMHO, for example the one with that silly clown who comes on after the girls? <doh>

BayernKenny: Glad you got back home OK! That must be miserable to lose your passport. I had my anxious moments in my travels, but never actually lost the damn thing. That consulate lady is nice, for sure, gave me good advice when renewing passport. I was a bit taken back at the gate security and being asked "what is your business?", being a British citizen was not good enough! A German security man came out and told me to switch my mobile off, and would not let me in until he was satisfied it was off!
