Well said, mate There are few things more frustrating for a football fan than watching their side get the ball in a good position 25-to-30 yards out, only to play the ball back towards the halfway line and then onto one of their centre-backs, so that he and the other defenders can pass it between themselves for 5 minutes before lumping it towards forwards who couldn't win a header to save their lives And breathe...
I don't understand how Barmby could call a team meeting due to poor performances, then watch a performance that was still piss poor - though not quite as disastrous as at Pompey - and then state that he's proud of the team. I would like to add, as have DJ and Bob, that I don't actually want Barmby out, he's at a learning curve but he needs to recognise that you can't just play one formation, one style and rotate only 12-13 players and expect to come out on top, especially if you have a mid-week game every week for a month. I'm not negative - I'm a realist - I genuinely thought that we could scrape the playoffs not so long ago but the chance has surely gone now. Hopefully NB can learn from this season and we can push on next season, though with rumours of lack of funds it doesn't look overly promising. UTT
Brilliant post , all this negative stuff is doing my ****n head in .... Can imagine if we did go up some planks would be demanding we blow millions so we can beat man u / man c / etc and crying everytime we got thrashed by the top clubs ...
What NB says in public will not be the same as what he says to the players in private .. Alot of top managers refuse to take a swipe at players infront of the media ...
I am being both positive and realistic. Yes now its gonna be alot harder than it was pre-Lesta game especially with all the injuries to key players. Never give up and see what happens. If nothing else the lads will learn so much from this season for next season. With the right additions next season can be even better than this one. UTT
thats the frustrating part, after the 2nd half at leicester he vowed we would not see a hull city performance like that again....pompey was even worse, to which he vowed i can promise you wont see another hull city performance like that again, and then we get coventry.. so you have to wonder how much attention anybody pays to him, because his promises of improvements have no effect, which in hindsight is probably why he said he was proud to try and hide the fact that his words had little effect on the players again unfortunately... needs to get them out and get some of his own lads in, too many pining after flathead i reckon
I go to pretty much all away games and as far as I can see, everyone's local radio station is just as **** as ours. There wasn't a single question that Burnsy asked on Saturday that was unreasonable, if Burnsy simply wanted a reaction, he could merely have questioned the 'proud' remark, that really would have got a response.
But Barmby was proud: they continued to demand the ball instead of shirking it when they were all having a stinker. People seem to think he was saying "I'm proud of that **** performance and result- it was really good." There is a difference.
I ve just been reading some of the comments on Liverpools board, if you think its bad here, count yourself lucky that you dont support them.
When you've just lost to one of the worst teams in the league and you played ****e, it's not a great idea to local radio and state that you were proud of the performance. It would be better to say 'we know we're better than that', 'the lads were trying, but nothing was coming off', 'it's my fault, my substitutions were ****ing mental', anything other than claiming you were proud of a piss poor performance. He's just making life difficult for himself and he's doing without any help from Mr Burns.
He wears his heart on his sleeve, like Phil Brown did and has not yet been coached to manage these situations in such a way as to dampen down the fuss. Kenny Dalglish is not quite as good as SAF at defending the indefensible but he's getting a lot of practice....
Maybe he should adapt what he's doing so we win the odd game, then he wouldn't have any post-match situation to manage.
So we come back to that old conundrum: why doesn't the manager who sees the players day in day out, and who has vast footballing experience much of it at international or top club level, heed the words of a consensus of fans as to who to pick and where to play them? It ain't never gonna happen......
At least the consensus of fans are in the fortunate position of not having just lost four games on the bounce.
dont get why some people join a football forum, if they dont like people discussing things and venting frustration, it seems to me you like a moan just like the rest of us, you just choose to moan and pick arguments with others instead of the football, if it pisses you off that much theres other things to do on the internet you know...www.xhamster.com
