You wont be drinking of the trains matey! There will be a complete alcohol ban on Sat and Sunday, have no fear. They did that for the League cup final on the East coast line and they will be doing it for the semis on Midland Main line and East Coast line. These trains will be stewarded and policed and they will be searching people before they board.

Ah yeah I realise I won't get a drink on the way down, but I'd like a drink once I get to London, rather than holding back because I'm driving back later.

They might ask for a ban on the return trains, but not on the ones going there surely? Never had that before

Im afraid they did on the weekend of the league cup final. I came up for the Newcastle game on the same weekend and there was no booze on any East Coast train from Newcastle down to London. Nor was there on any Hull Trains to London either. So it looks like you are f..ked.

    There was in May 2008.

The passengers may have got drunk, rioted and set the train in fire.

Thank goodness the drinks ban averted this.

Don't think they have any spare rolling stock to use.

That is probably the worst Premier Inn in London! Good luck with it!

I wouldn't care as long as it has a bed and a lockable door.

Debatable on the second part. I stayed once, then found the Premier Inn Hanger Lane. Refurbished 18 months ago with secure parking, you just have to tackle the kamikaze hanger lane round about. Avoid the Travelodge on the North Circular - it would be safer sleeping rough on a park bench.

Luckily I am staying at a friends' home just outside of Watford. I was originally staying at a Premier Inn in London, but changed when i got the call from my mate. Hopefully it will be the same for the final.
