Right we have the following running today - you can see who put the horses up above

    Roker Park (IRE)

    15:25 Chester

form of Newcastle race should be taken with a pinch of salt. Showed enough to suggest his mark is right, will probably win a 0-90 at a Northern track

    Mac's Power (IRE)

    14:30 Ascot

One that will be obvious to those that have watched the replay of the Wokingham (18/06/2011) is MAC'S POWER - he finished well in front of his group and surely would have gone close if he was on the other side. On first viewing of the race I was obviously concentrating on the side the first 7 were on so missed him. He is capable of winning a big handicap I would think

    Group Therapy (GB)

    14:05 York

A horse that will win at large odds soon is Group Therapy. Trained this season by David Barron all he needs is to be dropped a grade or 2, he is without doubt capable of winning a Listed Race and/or even Group 3. He likes to come with one long run which can itself cause problems but when the day comes and he is dropped in class GET ON.

    Discression (GB)

    16:25 York

Kevin Ryan trained Discression was beaten a length by useful Swiss Spirit after being slowly away. The pair pulled clear of the rest in what looked a decent maiden. It was the first outing for Discression which was perhaps his downfall. Should go one better next time

    Fort Bastion (IRE)

    14:20 Newmarket

beaten by a filly who could well be good enough to keep the Marcel Boussac in Ballydoyle for another year and i thought ran pretty creditably.

Backed this horse in the John Smiths cup at York. The horse got no run at all and the Jockey stopped riding for about 50 metres, started again when a gap opened and still got third. Has yet to win this year but will do very soon in similar or even better company.

    DALAGHAR

never quite understoood the race comments "ran on well, never on terms" till i saw DALGHAR in the july cup.backed him at ascot and was drawn THE wrong side as he ran well at york on his debut.watching interest in this,he seem to get out quite smart but fortune was intent on holding him, resulting him pulling.fortune gave up well inside the 2f pole ,but he was running on without the jockey asking him, chance had long gone ,but i think he as the ability if dropped to gp2 or less and with a jockey who will let him do what he wants.

    Golden Delicious

One to note over 7-8f on anything softer than good, softer the better.

This 3yo filly made her debut in Oct on soft going and won going away by nearly 4l, clearly loving the ground.
5l 3rd in that race was Qushchi who followed up at Newmarket beating Choral, Joviality and Field of Miracles. Choral won on reappearance on the AW. Joviality was second on reappearance before beating Barefoot Lady,(who was a creditable 3rd of 12 in the Coronation Stakes) and then ran Timepiece to just over 2l in the Falmouth Stakes yesterday. Field of Miracles also won on the AW on reappearance before running 2nd to Zain Al Boldan in the Oaks trial.

Meanhile Golden Delicious flopped on her second outing at 2, finishing 12th of 14 on good to soft. On reappearance she was last of 11 on good to firm beaten 58l and then ran 9th of 11 over 10f on good (beaten over 14l), racing keenly and weakening final furlong.

This is a daughter of top-class sprinter, Cadeaux Genereux excellent source of high-class 2yos, whose progeny usually progress well. I remember Cadeaux Genereux as a mud lover and this filly hosed up over 7f in the soft last October.

She was only carrying 8.2, with a 5lb claimer today but to win over 7f on good going in the only race of the day faster than standard was something of an achievement, particularly in view of this race comment:
"In rear and soon pushed along, took keen hold 3f out, switched right and headway from 2f out, driven to lead inside final furlong, ran on well closing stages" won just over 2l.

Provided the handicapper doesn't hit her too hard, she should have no trouble in winning again, particularly if the ground comes up soft.

    ENTERED FOR THE FOLLOWING RACES

21Jul11 7:55 (Four Day) at Doncaster, Esquires Coffee Wheatley Retail Park Fillies' Handicap

    Winker Watson

Well, I was wrong about him being over-priced but that run today convinced me that he will win a race. He reared at the start, always behind but only 6l behind the impressive winner Dream Ahead at the finish, and only 3l behind the favourite. I can’t believe he was pushed to the limit when no chance of winning. He’s entered in two more races and I expect him to at least place in one of them at a decent price.

    Eightfold
David Probert seemed to have plenty of horse under him with nowhere to go 3furlongs out. By the time she got clear the winner had flown (stable companion) but under a hands and heels ride ran on resolutely. By Cadeaux Genereux but out of a half-sister to good horses Kingfisher Mill and Well Being this colt should pick up a race at 7f but should get 9 to 10f eventually: one for the notebook.

Roker Park won at 9/1 and I think he will follow it up next time if out under the penalty. I didn't back it either as I was at Silverstone. Frustrating.

Well done Nass. That's a 7/1 and a 9/1 winner in the last few days from here.

Just noticed he ran at Newmarket.

"Chased leader 1f, remained handy, pushed along and hung left over 4f out, ridden to chase winner over 2f out, hung left over 1f out, not clear run inside final furlong, ran on well (tchd 5-2 in places)"

This was over another 2f and possibly unlucky; I still think he will be worth following.

It was a very slow time so stamina may not have been brought into play.

Spanish Plume runs tonight at 8.50 - I will predict what the result will be

6th - Held up, outpaced, never nearer. Beaten 9 lengths.

As Nass says we have one runner tonight

    SPANISH PLUME 8.50 WOLVERHAMPTON

Ran in a moderate maiden on debut, the horse travelled nicely into the race but Gibbons gave the horse an 'education'. One to watch when it gets a handicap mark as I think it may be a 70+ rated horse which they are plotting up.

Ron in regard Winker Watson, I wish they had entered him in the Stewards Cup, he could be on a fantastically lenient mark if he gets into a big handicap. No shame in dropping him to that company.

Rex Imperator - 2 year old who ran in a maiden at Windsor. Charlton said it would need the run and I think he is going to be a listed+ class horse if he improves for the run. Should go off short on second run though.

Spanish Plume ran as expected in the race, held up at the rear, given easy enough time and outpaced. Ran fair enough and also got upset in the stalls. I am certain they will win over further with this horse.
