Apologies still searching for a bit of form with the Flat season upon us so be very weary of my tips. I do prefer the National Hunt (jumps) season particularly the festival meetings. Had a fantastic Cheltenham meeting & found a few winners at Aintree. Punchestown was also very good for me. I'm not so keen on the run of the mill stuff !
O only pulling your leg. If you can’t afford to lose you can’t afford to bet is the motto. Usually only bet on course and a good day mean s coming out even.
Both. Last flat season I came out a few hundred ahead. One before about even. One before that a few hundred down when I made the mistake of getting involved in early season racing at the likes of Beverley and catterick. That includes money for the days out.. so in betting terms a small profit overall but I don’t bet big and I don’t chase if losing...
Old work colleague of mine used to be a professional gambler, he made a decent living until he got married and wife wanted a “settled” job. He then bet only for pocket money but used to get some great winners, he’d only bet on big meetings, felt there was too much “fixing” at the smaller meets. My old man preferred jump racing for the same reason he felt harder to fix.
Agree Rist horses are always trying at the big meetings, you know the ones that are out of their depth although owners/trainers shrewdly enter their runners with the hope of gaining a top-six place as the prize money is always decent, good for the connections but not always profitable for the punters. I personally enjoy the top competitive meetings as there is always value to be had. Not so keen on the bread & butter stuff & I ignore the all-weather racing game like the plague
