I have always wanted to be able to walk to and from games and have a drink but alas I have alway lived a distance away, closest was Ruislip and Uxbridge but that was when I was serving at RAF Northolt and living at RAF Uxbridge. But last night there was some sort of police incident closing off roads, causing havoc
Troy Deeney, 'very low risk'- cant recall all details from his trial but such assaults seem to be so often fuelled by booze or ??? Still wonder if theres something in his personality that made him go as far as he did that night .Very low risk cos he now stays home at night and knits ?
I parked in the car park at the top of the town on Saturday and had no problem getting back to the M25. Get off at J20 if you're travelling anti-clockwise, down Hempstead Road and its the carpark in the middle of the roundabout. Does get full so don't leave it too late. £2.40 for 4 hours and 20 minute walk to the ground.
..... or if you are early enough you can turn right off the Hempstead Road at one of the two sets of traffic lights and try to park on the Cassiobury Estate - walk 20 to 30 minutes from there but easier to get away after the game as you miss the town centre
We park in Reeds crescent which is just off the roundabout coming into Watford. Free of charge and easy to walk to the ground from.
Theo--I had a perfect view of the Yeates goal--he got the ball in a tight spot in the corner from a clever back-heel, progressed along the goal line---I was expecting a cross or cut-back but he kept on going --- closed on the goalie, made a bit of space to improve the angle, and shot under the goalie's body. An outstanding goal and the turning point of the game because up to then Barnsley had matched us in every department. You could see the defence slump, and the goalie was traumatised. Forestieri was really annoying with his fallings over and staying down--he was lucky not to be carded . Good that we can take him off and bring on someone with the quality of Geijo. Let us not get carried away We have been up to 6th in December in the last two seasons--then gone into a turgid Jan-Feb. and ben unable to improve. This season the squad is bigger and more talented, but inexperienced in this kind of situation. "One game at a time" as they say.
Bit late on this one, but RESULTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, hate having to wait until Sunday to check results but hey...
Thanks to everyone who came back with parking advice. It seems strange to be coming down this time of year, our last few visits have been near the end of season.
It makes my blood boil to hear that (not your fault Dan, thanks for posting it) now, unfortunately, I don't consider him (FF) a player I am happy to have at the club.
You are welcome. I try to get some answers for people you cannot be there. I wanted to see if he could be as honest as other players.
I suppose it was slightly better to say nothing than the usual..he clearly fouled me comments most players give when questioned over such instances.
I sometimes think 'honest' is the mose casually used word in the language. Any statement prefaced by 'to be honest' for example is almost certain to reflect a degree of ambiguity about something. That aside, I don't like players going down with little or no contact and then complaining when they don't get decisions, and that applies to whether they play for Watford or not.
Just as well, Nick, my contacts don't extend much beyond Mrs H, though she of course is honest as the day is long
Oregon - what is the connection to Oregon? I have spent a lot of time in Portland over the years, wonderful city
