My priorities would be (1) a goal-scoring ACM to replace Fox (Toivenon? Shelvey?), (2) another quality striker like Hooper or another to replace Jackson, (3) a LB to replace Tierney, 4: a CB (Davies?) and/or LM (Redmond?) if the money is there to complete the 25 man squad. IMO, that could be done for around £25m (which is only a little more than we spent last year, including RvW).
This^ I've made the point before that, to survive in the Premier League AND challenge in the Cup competitions you must be able to rotate your squad. That luxury wasn't available to CH last season. I see him building a squad fit for purpose in that sense, and Becchio almost certainly is an important part of that.
lambert signed jordan bowery from chesterfield for villa last summer for more than £1m - god knows what this was based on - he's a big lump, a young clive platt if you like. come to think of it, lambert wanted us to sign clive platt as for becchio, like i say, you can make your own minds up on that one - i'm not sure what it meant. i took it to mean he wasn't quite as good as hughton had been assured by the scouting team. maybe couldn't cope with training or something like that? probably more like he wasn't fit enough - hopefully we'll see a different becchio next year

Spanner in the Hooper works? http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/s...f-massive-drenthe-and-hooper-double-signing/?
i only whispered the first three times as i was surrounded by people and didn't want them to overhear - it's difficult to portray that on a message board!
hooper surely is not going to go to the championship. he'll stay at celtic if that were his only option
i'm sure it's going to be bollocks anyway. hooper only just went away on holiday earlier this week - i can't imagine he was spotted at the madejski as the reading chronicle are saying. also, why would celtic just accept an offer from one club when there are others interested? they'd make the news public themselves so to try and start a bidding war - that's how these things work! i think someone is pulling a few legs
All the nutters writing off Becchio need their heads examining. He was clearly frozen out of the managers plans for whatever reason, however he DEFINITELY has PL goalscoring ability (unlike Jackson), without question. No-one scores 20 Championship goals before January without it, especially in a side as dire as Leeds! Pundits are spouting off all manner of boll**ks, but how can you judge on the basis of 6 games - spread all over the place, not exactly consecutively? IMO RvW, Holt, Hooper and Becchio offers a fantastic variety of striking options, something which we have not had the luxury of before. The biggest issue last season was that we had only 1 genuine PL striker, Holt, who had to shoulder the burden the entire season alone (and did brilliantly in what must have been infuriating circumstances. In any other situation, if he didn't love our club, a transfer request would have been submitted!). Being able to rest and rotate strikers is extremely important, especially over that December/January period! Whatever happens...looks a a lot better than Holt, Morison, Jackson, Kane
Does this mean he is going to re-invent himself as a central defender, so he can grab hold of, block off and generally rough up centre forwards?
