SSN this morning stating Lennon still trying to hang on to him. This is dragging on but don't they all? Would prefer to keep Remy who we know can / does score (assuming he is at liberty to do so).
WHU will take Remy, Hooper will not come...we will get Austin and his knee.....but no worries we have the footy loving Bobby Zamora
Wrong side of bed? It is not gloomy - yet! Let's wait until six games have been completed then take stock.
Gary Hooper: QPR cash a big lure, says McAvennie please log in to view this image Celtic striker Anthony Stokes (left) is replaced by team-mate Gary Hooper. Picture: SNS Former Celtic idol Frank McAvennie doesnât blame striker Gary Hooper for swapping the Champions League for the Championship, claiming that the 25-year-old â who was still playing non-league football at 18 with Grayâs Athletic â is right to cash in on his talent. Hooper is likely to sign for newly-relegated Queenâs Park Rangers and McAvennie argues that, the bottom line is the bottom line for the forward and no-one should be surprised by that. It is likely that the move â which would not make footballing sense â will not be down to a lack of personal ambition but a desire to ensure he doesnât need to work again once he retires. âItâs just money, isnât it?â said McAvennie. âI thought they did well getting the £12.5 million they did for Victor Wanyama, that was great business. Hooperâs going into the last year of his contract and they have to take what they can get for him. âHeâs also got to look after himself. Harry Redknapp will think of himself as a manager who can bring him back up to the Premier League next year. I think he should stay but heâll be tripling his wages by going and I donât know if Scotland can compete with that. I think itâs dragged on too long. Theyâre waiting for more money coming in but if teams really want you theyâre coming in at the start of the window, not dragging it on like this. Itâs not doing Celtic or the boy any good.â McAvennie believes losing Hooper will not be a major blow for the Parkhead faithful and insists Tony Watt should not be allowed to go on loan, claiming that he sees some of himself in the 19-year-old who notched the winner against *Barcelona. âIâve always been an admirer of Anthony Stokes and I like Tony Watt,â he said. âHeâs a bit of a throwback to my kind of *centre-forward â a guy whoâll chase things down. Hooper wonât chase things. Tony gives them a different dimension. Thereâs been talk of him going out on loan but I think they need to keep him.â McAvennie was speaking as he prepared to take part in the filming of a Scotland v England celebrity match at New Douglas Park on 3 August for Whatâs The Score? â a film comedy which will be released next summer. âJustin Smith, the writer, asked me to get involved in London,â he said. âI knew a lot of the Arsenal lads who had already done some filming and they said it had been good fun so I came on board to get a part in the film. Iâve got a speaking part so itâs just something else to do. Iâm back in Scotland and helping out. âThey were looking for a ground so I got them in with Hamilton as theyâre a good charity club. I now live in Hamilton and donât have a car so I can just walk there. I also helped them to bring in some former players.â http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/english/gary-hooper-qpr-cash-a-big-lure-says-mcavennie-1-3011898
Striker interest hots up Celtic, Last updated: July 24, 2013 7:28 AM Queens Park Rangers are set to step up their interest in Celtic striker Gary Hooper, who is also wanted by Norwich City. Celtic boss Neil Lennon has come to terms with the fact Hooper is likely to move on this summer but he will only go at the right price and it could take as much as £6million to land him. QPR have been on Hooper's trail for several weeks but they may be reluctant to fork out the asking price and reports claim they will switch their attention to Burnley striker Charlie Austin if Celtic do not lower their valuation of the player. Hooper has just 12 months remaining on his contract and Norwich have also lowered their valuation after making offers in the region of £6million back in January. http://www.clubcall.com/celtic/striker-interest-hots-up-4-1609498.html
That's right, this about a player who, if wanting to move out of the SPL, provides him with an opportunity to get to the best league in the world. Sometimes in life, you need to take a sidewards step to go forward again. If Hooper was to come over, play his part in a promotion push ................. with the view of playing in the Premier league next season and achieving it, what is so negative about such a move. Coming from where he is now, I call it an a positive planned move. He knows QPR have owners who want to invest into the club to ensure we get back to the PL. It is not as if he would be going to a club who pretend to have aspirations of the PL but not the budget or nous. We plan to get back there, sooner rather than later.
I get a feeling with most of these moves that it is the agent who "advises" the player to hang on or hold out. The agent would rather have a Premiership player in his stable than a championship player. Most of the time the Premiership team would pay more and therefore the agent would get more. Greed..
