Austin + Hooper would provide us with excellent strike options, will cover off Remy (assuming he stays) knocks, donkey Zamora and injury prone AJ.

Hooper's deal (if it proves true) was worse than watching paint dry! I guess no Premier League team stumped up the cash and came in for him. Austin (failing Hull medical) would be seen as damaged goods by Premier League outfits plus that all that snorting in the bogs last year in Swindon.

Wolfswinkle was actually signed in March, so the £8.5m was not out of the summer budget .
At present we have only two strikers at the club, RVW & Bechio, Holt was sold to Wigan so we are very short up front. I would expect two more strikers minimum by the end of this window, Hooper & then maybe a loan?
As for being careful, we are, it's just all this extra sky money from staying up last year!

As he was born in Paddington, West London, I think officially that makes him QPR. A quick spin up the A40 and he's at LR.

If the "careful" team spends/going to spend (Hooper) about 25 million within a four months i just hold my breath when they go wild on the transfer market......

Hooper hasn't played pre-season for us at all. rumours he's in the squad for Wednesday but he'll likely not get a game, I don't think.

Like someone said, rumours are either going to you or staying at CP.

Hope he stays but don't think he will.

I will believe it when officially announced but I really hope that he does come to us, just the sort of player we need and combined with Zamora, Johnson and Remy (if he stays) will give us a very potent attack, assuming they get decent service from the midfield.

Hes using us to get a better deal of a PL club but they wont offer him the wages we have.

Not sure if I want a player who behaves like that.

I think you're wrong. He's a young player with an amazing talent and future ahead of him. He's worth more than he's on just now. Even Lenny wants to increase his wages but Peter Lawwell won't let him.

If you get him, you've a fantastically talented player in your team.

Plus he's gorgeous. Has a smile to die for.

He wants to play in the PL, who wouldn't? I'd be more worried if he wanted to come to us without seeing if he could get a PL club. Ambition!
