I agree. 2 striker incoming is a must. Due to the type of strikers they are, we need one of either: Hooper/Odemwingie And one from: Austin/Holt Then maybe Gedo or a youngster from a top 4 side as back-up on loan.
Where the Fail reports it is one or the other - could it be that Brucey is playing a tricky game - and we are after both?
We're definitely after both of them, but we expect Hooper to be Norwich-bound and our increased offer for Austin should see the deal done and any other Club's interested should pull out. I'd expect us to land Austin, but don't rule Hooper out. Steve Bruce may have a couple of tricks up his sleeve.
Id be more than happy with Gedo and AN Other. I said all last season the problem was all our strikers were deep lying and not a poacher type. Der Bommer, Aluko, Simpson and Boyd all come deep and look to play the other striker in. The problem was the other striker was always coming deep as well. Gedo is a true 6 yard striker who does knack-all all game other than score and that'd definitely a positive attribute to have when the team is struggling and just desperately needs a goal.
We definitely need two good strikers or the chance of us going down will increase significantly. Any idea if we're still after Mboyo?
Why would you think the club would be definitely after both of them when the HDM makes it very clear they have been told by the club that it is an either or situation? Media speculate a lot of the time, but you can quite easily tell from the wording when they have been given a solid piece of information, which this clearly is.
Given the choices, Austin is more likely if the asking prices here are true. I do wonder what will happen if both clubs say they'll accept the bid! If we had both of them, I'd be happy with loans to fill the rest of the spaces.

I know I said one from Hooper/Odemwingie (nippy striker options) and one from Austin/Holt (bigger/stronger type options) to create a strike partnership, but when you think about it, the worst combination of one of each type leaves us with a strike partnership of: Odemwingie and Holt - if that was our starting strike partnership I wouldn't be disappointed with it. Especially as I said with Gedo (or Guidetti) in on loan from the bench. Also, if we went for Odemwingie and Holt (taking rumoured fees from the press into account), we could probably get the pair for £5million, just £1 million more than signing just Austin or Hooper on their own.
If City are to sign only one of these £4m strikers and maybe another "cheapie" then that would be a total of £6m ish. Given our spent so far has been about £6m and our budget is around £15m, that means we have £3m left for a midfield ball-winner. Hmmmmm wonder who?
You seem to be discounting 2 things: These fees are all guess work as they are undisclosed Signing on fees
More ****! Austin is also wanted by Sunderland, with Paolo Di Canio having coached the striker during his time at Swindon. But how - if CA left Swindon in Jan. 2011, but PdC didn't start there until May that year? http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/stoke-city/stoke-to-battle-hull-for-championship-ace?
It's all guesswork, but in ball-park terms, given we are talking millions and millions, you can still gain a general idea of what the situation is and the kind of price brackets we are looking at. As for signing on fees, who is to say whether they are inside or outside the stated budget?
Exactly what I'm wishing for too Strov, this would be good business. Plus I still think Brucie will unearth another gem or two through the loans.
Surely at the front of Bruce's mind will be not how they would gel with each other, but how each of these players would fare with Aluko alongside/just behind them? If Aluko is fit, I don't see two new strikers both starting all that often.
