The improvment from the Forest game to Birmingham was superb and he was not too shabby against Forest. With a few more games to get match sharpness and build up an understanding this could be quite the signing.

As mentioned above the signing screamed a little of desperation after the reported failed bids for centre backs in the summer, but what I like about Adkins is that he knew what he wanted. A Left footed centre back, good on the ball and decent in the air. This lad ticks those boxes and has so far delivered.

It makes such a difference when a defender can bring the ball down and keep it rather than hoofing it back or looking for row Z every time.

So calm, solid, strong in the air, good distribution. I was impressed by him today. He even did a bit of showboating with a trick in the last few minutes .... Not sure he knew, but he did one!

A small, speedy striker may cause him problems, but he reads the game so well and positionally he is excellent - he'll do for me at the moment.

Speaking as a centre back theres nothing I hate more than the small speedy lads I'd much rather have a 7ft giant with muscles the size of trees than face a small quick fella and I think its the same for pretty much every centre back out there.

A very good performance Sunday from Jos, I really hope we can sign him permanently in January.

The language at the time of his loan didn't sound like there was any intention of signing him permanently.
I reckon we'll be looking to bed in a new defender in January whether he performs or not.

Which is a shame because ont he basis of the last game he could be exactly what we needed. Left footed, good on the deck, but bigger and stronger than Fonte or Seaborne.

I disagree..I didn't get the idea he had any future at Celtic and presumed Saints weren't prepared to take a risk on him without taking him on loan. We'll have to wait until his loan period ends to discover truth. He looked good in the one game I've seen him in, so bit early to judge.

He's certainly got no future at Celtic but there wasn't any anything coming from our people that indicated a long term deal in prospect.

Sometimes it doesn't work out for players at clubs. He was going to be first team under Mowbray but for whatever reason, he's not in Lennon's plans. Similar situation for Fox - it didn't work out for him at Celtic as well. Early days but I've been impressed by both.
