George is being given the Freedom of Hammersmith and Fulham. He's being made an honorary freeman - the highest civic distinction the borough can grant - at a special meeting of Hammersmith and Fulham Council on October 19, three days before his 77th birthday. The citation to be read out on the19th at the town hall in King Street, will acknowledge George’s lifetime achievements, and his exceptional service to charity in an ambassadorial role for Fulham FC and the wider football community; in particular his campaigning for research into cancer and dementia to help his fellow players.
Thought there would be something today from Hammersmith and Fulham about last night's special Council meeting to make George a freeman of the Borough, but can't see anything. So, instead, here's a bit they did last week with him reminiscing about growing up in Fulham. https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/articles/ne...is-roots-ahead-freedom-borough?dm_t=0,0,0,0,0
