When the world wide pandemic is looked back on soon I’m hopeful lots of ordinary people Supermarket workers factory workers etc who kept on going never mind social care and nhs staff will be celebrated and honoured. people like these two ****s and any others who thought only of themself will rightly be derided and shunned The **** you im all right society I want no part of that
Because footballers are doing just as vital work for society in a pandemic as nhs workers, shelf stackers, care givers etc? Right. I can’t get worked up about it, it’s a year ago now. The second half of last season was a **** show all round, and that’s just what we could see. There was obviously stuff going on behind the scenes but who does it benefit to drag it all up now? Since then, the manager has proved himself capable of much better things and earned another chance at the Championship, there must be a great team spirit at the moment and Honeyman has earned all the plaudits he is getting. Hope he stays with us for another go at this league.
I never really rated Lichaj (both Coyle and Emmanuel are better) and by the end, Jackson couldn't complete a five yard pass to one of his teammates, neither was any great loss.
The club paid both players through prolonged injury spells when they were not available for selection. Sometimes loyalty is a two way thing. I also feel a captains and a vice captain should consider their team mates predicament too. Not walk out on them when the going gets tough. What was the old saying about a captain being the last to leave a sinking ship ?
A club paying players while they're injured has absolutely nothing to do with loyalty, it's a legal requirement. We've had plenty of injured players who Ehab would have loved to have stopped paying if he could have figured out a way to do it.
Good for you you can’t So why were the government so keen to get football fixtures played again? Morale good for the country? Seem to remember everyone had a part to play in a world wide pandemic? But hey you must belong to the **** you im All right world Look after yourself and screw the rest Good for you well done I’m not
Whilst you continue to look for sticks to smash across the owners heads these two players walked out on the club in their hour of need and as captain and vice captain I for one, would have expected more from them. As it's turned out neither of them would get into our team today. This club have severed contracts mid term before when players have been injured, the most recent was Bullard, do you remember the shoddy way Wayne Jacobs was released ? Christmas Eve, after suffering a broken leg playing for us with the then chairman claiming he was finished and would never play football again. Jacobs went onto to play in the Premier League and we finished up in Div 4. If Ehab had of treated our players like I might agree with you but as I posted earlier, in my world loyalty is a two way think and those two showed none.
I haven't criticised the owners for the players leaving, I just pointed out that paying their wages while they were injured had **** all to do with loyalty.
Your splitting hairs again OLM. You have been having a dig at them all season. You 'pointed out' did you ?, that paying the players whilst they were injured had nothing to do with loyalty. I never said it was, that was the club honouring their obligations to the players. Something this club hasn't always done under different owners. The loyalty comes in when the club asked the players to give them another couple of weeks when the season was extended to help them out. The captain and his vice captain both jumped ship. Say's it all where their loyalty was.
Unless I am mistaken at one point under Grant wasn't we play off area? Bowen and Grosicki were the core of the team and our goal scoring abilities, both were sold under the manager which took the goal scoring capabilities out of the team, then it was clear a decent chunk of players just downed tools as you say! This is why I have never called for him to go and quite frankly, he may not be the most likable character at times but I think the job he has done from last seasons horror show to getting us up - possibly as champions I think he deserves a lot of credit. Many people blame him for us going down but given the circumstances I don't think many managers would of arrested the freefall
I agree apart from your last sentence When it was clear we were struggling he should have changed his system and made us hard to beat instead of gung ho We only needed a few draws to stay up
Agreed, however promotion to the premiership I gather was looking unlikely with the players we had and as was mentioned above a fair few of those players wouldn't even get in our team now and I must say, aside from the disappointment of not being able to go to see the games in person I have thoroughly enjoyed this season and we can go up back to the championship with a much younger well balanced squad who are all playing for each other. This season could of been a nightmare and the slump could of continued, Turns out we have had a great season and actually probably in a better place for it.
