Absolutely brilliant dribbler, but too inconsistent. The broken leg he got 5(?) years ago means he gets little niggly injuries roughly every 3 weeks which prevent him for sustaining a good run of form.

To be honest it depends on the wingers, if you have a wingers that like to carry the ball then most of your passes would be sideways but you've also got wingers that like to run onto the ball like Valencia, I'd say putting the ball in behind the full back is the pass most used by Man Utd to feed him, it's usually Scholes or Rooney that's passing that ball though, as I don't think Carrick has the capability to hit that ball consistently into Valencia's path.
I hope so, I think he will go the way of Eduardo and be a perma-crock/substitute though. I'm glad that **** doesn't play football any more, it looked deliberate the way he went in.
I think Carrick has the ability to pass like that but he is too mentally fragile. One of the reasons that he is not rated so highly is because he has his games where his confidence is completely shot, and when you need a calm passing approach a lack of self-belief is suicidal.
His weak mentality is the one thing holding him back from being a key player for England and Man Utd I'd say. He's had a great career trophy wise but he could've been so much better and more effective, lots of wasted potential there if you ask me. He'd probably benefit from a move to Italy though, in my opinion. The style suits him down to the ground, he could be a key player like Cambiasso is over there.
