My Team Amos Gunter Oshilaja Pearce Maatsen JF-C Pratley Maddison Williams Washington Bogle Aneke is far superior to Bogle, but Bowyer knows Aneke has to be treated with kid gloves, and is proving to be a match-winner as a sub. We've got two fit CB's, so use them, get Pratley back in midfield. Williams is buzzing now and has to start, even if we only get an hour out of him.
Shinnie is a big miss, we miss his quality & dynamism in the midfield. I am not impressed by Gilbey, to be polite ...he is very lightweight. It mayt seem an unfair comparison, but I was watching Chelsea, and their corner taker is Mason Mount. 10 times out of 10, his corners land in the opposition six yard box amongst a wall of bodies. Right in the danger zone. Caskey by comparison gets about 2/10 in that zone, he either over hits them, or most usually fails to beat the first man. You could argue that I’m comparing an international footballer with a lower league journeyman, but Jack Horners are an important part of the game. Surely we have a better dead ball taker than Caskey, and if not, can’t he spend more time practicing them like Mason Mount obviously does ?
@dick plumb posted that Aneke has hurt a hamstring in the warm-down after the Wimbledon game. So he may be out for a while?
Maddison is not the player some of our fans think he is. We will get 1 good performance in 4 out of him (when he’s fit) even at this level. The tattoos and the flash boots can’t disguise the fact he’s pretty average.
I think he's got potential, and haven't given up hope that Bowyer can get the best out of him. He won't play him if he doesn't buckle down, there's enough competition in midfield, and TS wants to sign another midfielder in January, so 1 in 4 won't get him a starting place. He's not even guaranteed to start on Tuesday. One possibility is that Williams could get the free role, Maatsen might play as a winger, and JF-C deserves to start imo. He is worth trying on corners though.
We played Maddison in his actual position against Wimbledon and it helped massively, he's not a winger. He's been poor but I think he has something to offer
@dick plumb with London going into Tier 3 at 00.01 tomorrow , will you still be going ? Could be the last game for a while.
I will be going, I have also booked in to the swimming tomorrow as the baths will be closed on Wednesday. We have had to knock drama on the head again just as we were hoping to restart.
I'm sorry to hear that. Would have been a nice last outing for 2,000 luckyt Charlton fans. Assume the EFL will award Charlton a 3-0 win? EDIT: Actually I think we'll only get that if the Rivers players have been breaking the virus rules... Still, you never know.
