Says the man who wasn’t even at the Valley (yet again). Actually, I chatted to both @ForestHillBilly and @Miketyson2007Junior at the Valley today.
The day started well enough meeting FHB before the match for a quick chat. But it quickly fell away. Preston were a well organised experienced team, and like South Africa in the rugby the day before imposed their game plan effectively. Charlton were horribly imprecise, and often seemed a bit lumbering when the chance to counter arose, and the atmousphere in the Valley drained away. I was hoping we would turn it around second half but the show was the same. Aneke began to worry them late on, and the number 20 Stockley seemed to go into every ariel challege elbowing someone, but even at 1-0, Preston looked the more likely to get the next goal. It was nice to be back, but the game took a lot of the good feeling away, though a few beers in Greenwich helped a lot. But we will need to improve next week. And Kayal clearly feels he can waltz around in the Championship, and Bowyer needs to tell him we don't have room for that now.
