Well I'm flying 10,500 miles to watch the home leg.... My first game back watching City live since Wembley 2008, after which I emigrated. Really looking forward to it, and don't care who they are playing...
It's hardly feasible to list every justification for non attendance. I think anyone with a dash of common sense would realise that there are understandable exemptions. Hop off your high horse eh?
I genuinely, with no hint of mischief, have never understood people who go to home games dependent on the opposition. Who are you going to watch - City or someone else? It shouldnt matter if we are playing Real Madrid or Bradford Park Avenue - if you support Hull City (and arent protesting against the owner) you should want to be there. I'm the biggest Hull City fan I know but I won't be attending for reasons previously stated.
Why is it so difficult for some people to comprehend that saying the club should improve it's marketing is not 'attacking the Allams' ? We should be making a big deal of this game , features in the local media etc. Advertising around the city . If the 2 local rugby clubs can do it with some of their games then there is no excuse really
Exactly, Hull FC had a big marketing drive for the recent game against Warrington and subsequently the crowd was 20% bigger than the previous game. That's on the back of a poor season and a game which would almost certainly be a defeat. Given how successful our team is on the pitch there's no reason why similar marketing can't increase our crowds as well.
Its worrying that poor rugby teams market themselves better than successful football teams in our city. Its a concern that we are not pushing our European debut game more when for example teams like Man Utd didn't even make European competition this season, but its a bigger concern if we get through to the group stages and we still fail to market the opportunity when we could really start to make some money. This is why we SHOULD point out the lack of marketing now in the qualifying round to wake the club and city up to ensure we and the city maximise the Europa Cup adventure and also boost the local economy with foriegn fans coming over to sample our city of culture.
Thanks Filey. Me too, she's only 60 and otherwise in good health. The rather irritating thing is her 60th birthday and our FA Cup final were on the same day - I chose the FA Cup Final. Not a second has gone by since Sunday that I deeply regret my choice.
They couldn't even handle season ticket sales, so I don't hold out much hope for a success European marketing campaign. They gave existing pass holders 3/4 months to renew, leaving only seven days for any new customers wanting to buy a pass, that's a poor effort especially when pass sales are down and we desperately need new pass holders.
Surely they have plans for a 3 game home pass with priority for away tickets for the group stages should we progress?
