If that's the case makes a bloody mockery of all that 3 year contract bullshit last year!! To be honest let's face it, if we've got a monster transfer kitty this summer can anyone honestly not see a serious revamp of our strike force? Van Wolfwinkle stylee?
Well at least with a longer contract we can get a higher price. Also that was about 9 months a go. Lots happens in 9 months. Something may of happened within the family, we don't know. What we do know with all this talk of younger strikers coming in over January maybe Holt has seen the writing on the wall. I can't see us getting a big signing striker and making them sit on the bench.
Sorry Rich, don't agree about the contract saga, that was Holty looking to get what he can before retiring up north!
If you all could take your sentimental specs off for a moment you'd realise that Holt's best days are behind him. He's struggled this year and I truly believe he would have done so whatever system we had been playing. He won't get a regular starting place next year IF he's still here, TBH I think we should have sold him in the summer when all that contract bullshit kicked off. Thanks for the memories Holty, but there's absolutely no room whatsoever for sentiment in football and we should move on next year without him IMO
I think he is going to end up at celtic personally. A guy on twitter asked him if he would ever consider playing for them and he replied that he would love to as they are a massive club. Also would fit in with the hooper thing as a swap deal. I would not be surprised if its already been sorted out.
Pretty much agree with your comment, though not sure about selling Holt last summer. As you say, CH should have a reaonable transfer kitty and a new striker will be a TOP priority, so Holt's chances would be limited. Might be inclined to keep him as an 'impact sub' if he's happy to play that role.
We won't get a bigger fee than potentially last summer. If he returns to Carlisle we won't even get a 500k if we are good to him ad grant his wish and even if he moves to Celtic we'd be lucky to get 1-1.5m
I agree with you to a point but also extending his contract would potentially price him out of being sold to his boyhood club. Double edged sword really. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry kick-it-off, I think you make some excellent points most of the time, but to me that is utter rubbish. Holt has been fantastic this season and I cannot comprehend why people can't see it. Is it just because he's not scoring goals? Because there's more to being a footballer and a striker than that.
This has been said a few times this season, it seems that a few of you disagree! I think Holty#s game has gone up several notches this season!
I don't see a problem. I am sure you can fly Norwich to Manchester/Liverpool or even Glasgow for a couple of hundred quid. Why not have them up there where they are happy. If you can afford to have 2 houses, one in each location and have the means to fly the majority of the distance whenever you fancy it then actually, you are probably only talking a couple of hours travel time between. An hour on the plane up to Glasgow then an hour or so down to Carlisle. Plenty of people live in Norwich and work in London. That takes a couple of hours each way. No big deal.
Back injury while training THIS MORNING, since when do teams TRAIN on matchday ? Hucks, fair point well made, but Holt is employed to score goals and whether you're the loan striker or not, that's what you have to do
