This wasn't a prediction thread of who Pearce/Redknapp/Wolverine will be actually taking to the Euros. Those are clearly the five that probably will be taken.

This is a thread about who SHOULD be taken based on current form (which isn't the way England selectors work). On current form both Sturridge and Welbeck shouldn't be getting a sniff, but I'm happy taking them as they at least are the future of England football (though I have my doubts about their commitment to England- I suspect they, like the other big club players, will only be interested in the club they play for and the fat pay cheque)

If you'd scored a dozen goals against so called 'quality' defenders in the manner Holt has done this season while running those 'nads of yours off then you might get a look in

Your suggestions are either laughable or completely invalid through injury or suspension.

 

If Grant Holt can score against Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool then he can pretty much score against anyone. The Euros are no tougher than the EPL. You give Holt good balls in the box and he will score goals. That is a fact and he has proved it at every level he has played at.

Pete Doherty is the classic example of someone who supports picking big name players over inform players. Holt is the joint second English goal scorer in the EPL, if he was playing for a top 6 club he would have been called up. The reason Holt would be good for England is he offers something different, his style of play is very different from the Defoes and Rooneys of this world.

 

Why do you play a striker.... to score goals. Who is English and scoring goals in the prem at the moment? Grant Holt.... Simples!
