A reason not to do it is having nobody lined up to replace him, getting someone in with all the cards stacked against him and ending up getting rid of two managers rather than one. No future in Holloway, but equally need a plan. At the moment we could get relegated but probably won’t be (wishful thinking). Unless someone that we would actually want long term is available and willing, can’t really see the point of the ‘someone else until the end of the season option’ - unless we are convinced we will drop if we don’t change, or unless senior players make it clear to Les that a change is needed now, because he’s lost the dressing room. Holloway’s after match comments yesterday show he does know what to do against ten men - keep the ball, use the whole pitch, wear them out - but the team didn’t do it. However, putting Smith on simply encouraged them to punt it long, so he shot himself in the foot anyway.
Do people honestly believe that the majority of the clubs above us has vastly superior squads and therefore us fans should be happy with a low mid table finish. We have a decent squad that could, under the right manager have pushed for the plays offs(is our best starting eleven player for player worse than sheff Utd, Cardiff, Bristol City-no). The issue all season is Holloway's obsession with 3-5-2 with the inevitable players playing totally out of position and eventually losing all will to try and play football. Favourite players always getting a game. I couldn't believe how overweight Onouha was at Burton but he got a game. Plan B not to change formation but bring on Smith to hoof it up to. When a manager says he played a "curveball" relating to a slight change in tactics at Burton you clearly know the guy has not got a clue regarding tactics otherwise he would not have been so excited about a slight change in tactics 27 games in against an absolutely dire Burton team. Even in that game where we were shredding them to bits with pace he brings Oteh off but instead of a like for like substitution for example bringing on Eze up pops his favourite lump Smith for the last 30 minutes, luckily for the master tactician Burton were so poor we still got a valuable 3pts. I don't care how many managers we have as long as they play our best eleven in the right positions, has a clue tactically, has a plan b and finally allows players to express themselves instead of worrying too much about conceding which we do anyway. If anyone cares my 11 is ________Smithies______ Furlong_Onouha_Hall_Robinson Wszolek_Scowen__Luongo__Freeman _______Smyth___Eze 2nd 11 _______Ingram____ Perch__Baptiste_Lynch__Bidwell Wheeler__Manning__Cousins__Osayi-Samuel ______Oteh_____Washington Only real weakness left side of midfield.
Depends on the service to them. Let's be honest the formation and players we use hoof balling it up field isnt exactly putting it on a six pence for them. Bidwell is a sunday league player who has got lucky and we rely on him to bomb up and down that wing and supply perfect balls. It's laughable. There are 2 left footers in my local team with more ability than him
Seems ironic that this week was when we all get bombarded with txts and e-mails about being prepared to renew our season tickets. I know a fair few, including me, who ain’t intending to renew this year. Shame it’s come to this
If Holloway doesn't leave the club this week then his last chance saloon must be on Saturday. Barnsley come to Loftus Road with only one win in their last fifteen and haven't won at Loftus Road for 68 years. ( 0-5 in 1950. )
We thought the end of the drab dull football came with JFH’s sacking. We were wrong. We’re just so slow, laboured and narrow or alternatively hoof ball with Smith on the pitch.
Interesting that you don't have Matt Smith even in your 2nd 11 and no big striker for the two wingers to cross to in your 1st 11.
I hope Holloway does the decent thing soon, so that we can all move on and start moaning about the next poor ****er.
but that would still leave the next person coming in with the same squad! Maybe Clint in player manager capacity would work.....
I'm not saying I think it would be for the best. I think we should have someone lined up first and should probably wait till the end of the season, unless he takes us on another 6 match losing run.
Is it not more the ability to create space by out thinking your marker and movement off the ball that creates goal scoring opportunities, more than being 7ft tall but totally immobile.
I know the squad is not the greatest but haven't a lot of the complaints also been the formation and playing players out of their natural position. Perhaps if a new manager was appointed addressing that might help.
